Subject: Premier League Abroad

Aye, which they made theirselves, for a wage of 5p.

Ironic, eh?
Indeed :)

You've still got one of the highest gates in the division. There's no way Oxford should be farting about mid-table.

Oi, that's a separate arguement ;o)

But you're right. What's concerning is that most of the average players that have been sold by Oxford in the past few seasons have played averagely for us, but then play blinders for their new clubs!

Why this can be when we have the biggest stadium, the best wages, the best training facilities, the most fans, special diets, and until recently the players had their away meals for free, a luxury for non-leaguers!

Most of the above can be compared to most League 2 clubs, too.

The new manager has bought in some harder working players, as we have not risen to the occassion all season in televised games against part-time teams. They make us look ridiculous, then tell all their mates about it at B & Q the next day.

Disregarding the validity of the arguments above, you guys have an attention span shorter than a gnat's musings about global economy.

{As if you have swallowed the poison pills given to Madam Guillotine in the Black Adder - French Revolution / the Scarlet Pimpernel episode!}.

As a fan outside the Premier League, and not taking in to account the fans and the player's fitness, i think it's a great idea.

You mean everyone that really matters in the situation?

The basic idea of other countries/large cities paying vast amounts to stage a live PL game is a brilliant one, especially if the money reduces ticket prices in this country(I know, I'm deluded to think that would happen). But 1 game, which is random, well that will please the owners, who will get a significant rise in the value of their business'! The fans/players/managers wont be too happy, especially as the fixture list is "too congested".

Really, it's another sign of the game becoming more and more corporate based, this will please the bigwigs endlessly.

The F.A. need to make a stand on this. Thing is, the F.A. have more power than we like to think over the PL. The F.A. should cancel their relationship with the PL if the PL go through with it. Because, the F.A. choose the teams that go into Europe, not the PL. If the F.A. ended the relationship well, you'd have the same 20 teams competing time and time again, and with no-one getting relegated, where's the excitement? ManU/Arsenal/Chelsea for the title every season, woopdy doo!

You mean everyone that really matters in the situation?

I did mean that, purposefully, aye ;o)

Not sure how easy it is for F.A to disassociate theirselves with the P.L thought?

Anyway, isn't the final choice down to F.I.F.A?
2008-02-12 17:13:53
I think first the F.A have to accept it, not sure on that though, then U.E.F.A, then F.I.F.A. It has along way to go before this is accepted, especially as Platini thinks it's stupid, and can you see other countries representatives voting in favour of English clubs getting even richer? Can't see it personally.
2008-02-12 18:42:17
Well Asia aren't happy with the idea, pretty sure that will be a big argument against :)
2008-02-12 19:46:25
Damn you!

Anyway, this Premier League abroad thing is a non-starter, I reckon it's the typical media hype about an idea someone at the FA farted out at a posh lunch and it's all snowballed from there.
2008-02-12 19:48:45
Well there's another problem, countries like Japan, China, Australia, the US etc aren't going to be interested as it demeans their own league, of which they've spent a lot of time and money to get to where they are.

Dubai with Liverpool are likely to be interested!

Shame the Man City chairman will be staying at home for their trip to Thailand too, eh.

We're the same in the championship attendance wise, one of the best attended, highest %age of capacity, and 3 months ago 5 points adrift at the bottom. God bless Glenn Roeder is all I can say.
2008-02-13 13:58:52
really?
2008-02-13 15:49:54
Yep, this link shows Norwich as the 2nd best attended team in the league, with Wolves 3rd best. And our capacity is only 26,000.
