Hi!

I would like to ask you about the university marks there... I've read:

A+ = 10 (UK +70%)
A = 9 (UK 60-69%)
B = 7,5 (UK 50-59%)
C = 6,5 (UK 44-49%)
D = 5,5 (UK 40-43%)
E = 4 (UK 35-39%)
F = 2 (UK 0-34%)

In Spain we have 0-10, and in USA seems to be A+ - F. But, what's the highest mark in UK, 70? or more?

thanks!

Theoretically our universities mark out of 100. But your actual degree comes as one of 5 grades - 1st, 2/1, 2/2, 3rd or fail.

so approximately

1st = 70%+
2/1 = 60 - 69
2/2 = 50 - 59
3rd = 40 - 49
fail = lower

I found the so-called percentages were made up. My tutors (for a history degree) clearly looked at the work and decided it was, for example, a high 2/1 and therefore said it was 68% or a low 2/1 and award 62% - 61, 63, 67 and 69 were never used.

To complicate matters more some tutors might decide that they want to mark your work relative to how the rest of the group scored, so that it didn't seem like the work was too easy or too hard.

80/100 questions answered correctly. 80%, right? Wrong. Everyone else in your group is a moron so you get marked down a bit so they don't feel so bad. 72% looks a bit better.

I'm glad I dropped out.

Why are you glad you dropped out?

Because of the sense of superiority I get from thinking that I stuck it to the man.

That alone is worth the £12k+ debt with nothing to show for it except an HND.

I am sure the man crys at night thinking about the one that got away...
2008-02-20 00:19:48
And what a the one it is. The man only has himself to blame.

I understand. When 'er indaws say "Bloody man", I think that is the one she means...

that's easy way to avaliate students. In Brazil you are top or botton coz the avaliation goes from 0-100 so the scores are really individual some universities like mine were I got my degree requires a minimum score of 70 to progress to the next level but on average the minimum score is 60.

There is no man, robnob.
2008-02-20 15:52:48
Only The Man would say something as retarded as that.
2008-02-20 17:06:57
shush you.
2008-02-21 02:24:58
Yeah? Thats the way it is huh? Ethnic sounding made up character tries to state an opinion and The Man try to knock him down.

This shiz is dope yo.

I did physics, which was often very "black or white" you got stuff right or wrong.

So I got 97% in one exam, and......

ahem....

12% in another.

At least there was less "tutor bias" - the 58% syndrome that existed in (f)arts subjects
