poor guy! someone saw the entrance off taylor to him?

Not Taylors' fault apparently. Wenger has distanced himself from yesterdays' comments - having seen Taylor play at Norwich, he's not malicious, he's just slow. Seems that Eduardos' pace caught him and he caught Eduardo. It's a shame, but it was an accident, and needs to be seen as such.

From what I've seen, looks like a horrific injury.

Not quite as bad as the Dave Busst one, but not far off it.

The pictures where you can see his bone sticking into his sock shows just how bad it is, a double compound fracture is pretty much as bad as it gets.

The middle of the three pictures at the top shows the true damage to his ankle/leg.

I think this Taylor bastard should be excluded from any game untill Eduardo is Back on the field. Eduardo is suposed to be out for 9 months and so should Taylor
2008-02-27 22:40:40
Have you played football?

I'll guess not, as the "experts" say it was unlucky, and most people seem to think so aswell.

Taylor should be banned for a poor tackle, not an injury.

I'll say this, I want Steven Gerrard banned for exactly the same amount of time if Taylor gets a lengthy ban, because he has made far worse tackles over the years.

"Taylor should be banned for a deliberate dangerous foul"

At the time I wasn't sure if the tackle was deliberately nasty or as many of the "experts" claimed just clumsy.

In one of the tabloids the day after its showed 5 time delayed pictures.

The first showed Taylor making contact mid way up Eduardo's shin.

Taylor is actually off the floor in this photo (note only the tip of his trailing foot is making contact with the ground). There is no way in my mind that is clumsy, its a deliberate attempt to foul the player.

While his intention might not have been to cause such a severe injury, they are the outcome of those kinds of fouls.

"I'll say this, I want Steven Gerrard banned for exactly the same amount of time if Taylor gets a lengthy ban, because he has made far worse tackles over the years."

I agree, Gerrard and anyone else who makes these deliberately dangerous fouls should be sent off instantly. Very quickly it will stop the practice.

I haven't seen the Taylor incident so won't comment on that, but in my (small) amount of years watching football i have seen too many violent incidents overlooked, and in comparison how many clampdowns have there been?

Elbowing was all the rage at one point...players were getting yellows for smashing someone's face in so they clamped down on those types of fouls and now you hardly see them in the game. The same thing has sort of happened with 2 footed challenges very recently, and referees must be even tighter with these types of foul.

Who remembers this? In my opinion he should never be allowed to play football again, and similar "no attempt to play the ball" fouls should be dealt with similarly in my opinion, with season long bans etc.

Heat of the moment my bottom, punish them, and there will be virtually no moments with any heat.

Just one thing about a little bit of the wording, it is a deliberate foul, and a dangerous foul, whether it is a deliberately dangerous foul is the arguement.

Thing is they should already be sent off for those tackles, it's whether any further punishment should be added!

I think it's a deliberate foul, that's clumsy, or rather shows he isn't that good at tackling, as he's late to make the challenge.
2008-02-27 23:57:55
From the video i have seen, it really doesn't look malicious at all.

OK, OK, it's a bad foul and a red card, but i think it would be really harsh to punish Taylor further.

If Eduardo's standing foot was not so firmly planted on the ground we would all not be having this conversation, and to be honest, i doubt he would have got sent off.
2008-02-28 11:45:31
I agree completely maybe not how my post came across, but I feel in cases where the foul is deliberate and dangerous the penalty should be higher than the standard 3 match ban, irrespective of the outcome of the fouled player.

If Eduardo's standing foot was not so firmly planted on the ground we would all not be having this conversation, and to be honest, i doubt he would have got sent off.

And that is the problem, this sort of dangerous foul is let off week in, week out, and like elbowing, it is time its stamped out.
2008-03-02 16:57:54
I agree totally. If you watched the match you saw it was a very poor tackle, simply because Taylor is too slow.

If you see it on photo it looks like a vicious, deliberate foul.
