Subject: Mario Kart Wii.

2008-04-14 00:12:58
...is immense, especially online. I've spent the best part of the last 2 days playing it. Maybe it's because I'm old and remember a 5 minute load on tape for a ZX Spectrum game of Manic Miner, but when a game takes 30 secs or less to connect you to an online racing game with weapons and all sorts of accellaration and trajectory madness with 11 other players from among other places, Japan, France, Germany and Italy, I have to say I'm a little bit impressed.

If you have this game plus wireless connection for the internet, and fancy a challenge, sk-mail me.

Going to get it today on the strength of NCN's rec. It had better be brill!

I have to buy my brother a birthday present too, so it seems like a good excuse as any to dodge work and buy games...

Yeah i bought it on saturday and im very impressed. I thought the steering might be a bit tricky but it works really well.

NcN Ill be up for a game online i played a couple of online races yesterday. Ill just have to work out how you select how you race against.

I think it's possible to set up a friends roster on your machine, the idea being that you can then challenge all your friends that are currently online. Or I could be horribly wrong.

With the steering, I'd have to agree with you. The missus prefers using the classic controller to the wheel as she finds nudging a thumb easier than moving both arms, but I've been sticking to the wheel as I do the driving in our house. She keeps beating me hollow, but at least I'm keeping true to the way Nintendo wanted me to play :).

Mario at the olympics is fun ! Our 3-year old boy often says "let's play running !" in an excited manner while shaking his fists up and down, emulating the movement of the game.

Archery is a pain though - couldn't get the hang of that.

Oh, and the missus got 9.6 seconds in the 100 metres, and then objected when I asked if she could be tested for drugs.

Ill have a look when i get home tonight and we could setup a game between a few of us.

Me and missus played all weekend opened all the events and I have to agree archery licks balls. 9.6 is good, it would be cool if you could play that on-line.

You played the 400m or 400m hurdles yet?

Super Mario Galaxy is a great game too, though I imagine you people allready knew that...

But it's simply awesome, and therefor must be mentioned!!

i have really been considering gettin a wii as the reviews for them have been awesome.

I currently have a 360 but very few games mainly play call of duty 4 online. Although from what i have heard of the wii i might have to buy one when the funds are up and running again.
Bah, this is all wrestny? Were you not allowed a 16-bit console when you were a nipper?

I have not played this new Wii version, but i have seen the adverts, and it looks exactly the same as the Gamecube version, which is a little bit better than the N64 version, but not as good as the SNES version.

I've just bought one of those DVD players...they're just like CD's but better! ;o)

SNES all the way!

Dude. We were there when 16bit wasn't even invented and played Mario kiss-chase and stuff!

Bloody kids! ;-)

And for the record you are all wrestny as I got to the shop and apparently there "has been a rush on" for the game. I am holding SK responsible.

In that case he should have bought one himself!

Father Christmas bought mine :o)

Bloody do-gooder!

Anyway the game was for me. I got some old x-box tat for him...
SNES ? I remember putting 10p into the arcade machines to play Donkey Kong, young whipper snapper !

If you can play Mario Kart against 12 people wirelessly and simultaneously over the internet on your SNES, and if it takes 20 seconds to set up - then I take it all back, you are right :).
