Subject: Where did your Login name come from?

2008-04-16 19:21:37
Has it held you in good stead?

Can't say I've used it to get a decent job (lazily began working for my dad when graduated, and still going), but the irony is I'm more interested in it now, what with the current world economy being screwed, than I was back then.

I agree with your 'stuff' comment too - but some people are set on what they want to do from an early age, and happy enough to spend years achieving it. I'm still clueless on how to waste my next 40 years. :-)

Excellent effort!

I still have no idea what I want to be when I grow up.

Q1. What is the significance of your team name?

Forest Reserves came about when I set up a team in Hattrick and needed to come up with a name quickly. I then transferred to it to Sokker so some people knew who I was.

I had already used "Forest Reserves" as a fantasy football team a few years back with the tongue in cheek phrase as my fantasy team had much better players then the then Nottingham Forest team. It's now just a painful truth whatever team I pick in fantasy football....even the Derby lineup.

Q2. where did your login come from?

Ah. Ahem. Umm.. The truth? Ah sod it. Here is the truth. Back in 1994 when the world was still in black and white, I was a young whippersnapper who was just discovering the internet (which amusing was either black and white, or black and green depending on the monitor). I discovered a "MUD" - which is a multi user domain - text based multi user game. Was called Nanvaent I think. You had to have a character, so I tried to find a name that sounded like a person but linked to me. As I was a nottingham forest fan, I chose forestman, because it signified that, but also could just sound like some mysterious tree-dwelling thing.

That's the truth, the whole truth and the very sad truth.

some mysterious tree-dwelling thing.

It really doesn't sound like that.

Ha ha, you sad git!

Aye. Count me lucky though. My name "forestman" at least is useable. Some had really girly names, like "evilpenguin"

A1: Stourport Stormers... Stourport (the town I live in) Stormers (Vodacom Stormers are the rugby team of my birthplace of Cape Town, South Africa)

A2: KwaZulu... after the state of Kwazulu-Natal in South Africa where my family originally lived before moving to Cape Town

That sounds like a butch, manly name to me.
