Sunday is the final day of the premiership, and two relegation slots remain undecided...

Bolton are favourites to stay up, as they are 11 goals clear on goal difference even if they lose, which is likely since they are away to Chelsea who still have the title in sight.

Fulham pulled off a great escape last weekend and are also fancied to stay up, but they have a tough game away to Pompey. A win would see them safe as they are 6 goals ahead of Reading.

Reading have the easiest game, away to Derby. If they can't beat Derby they don't deserve to stay up (says the Newcastle fan) but a win will not be enough if Fulham also win.

Birmingham, at home to Blackburn, need a win and Reading to lose or draw. Goal difference means that if Reading lose a draw would be enough to keep Birmingham in the Premiership next season.

edit: steelers is right... Bolton are 11 goals clear not 5

I think Reading have got a guaranteed three points (well, as close as it gets in the prem), so they'll manage to avoid it when someone else slips up. I guess that means Fulham slipping up, as Bolton and Reading's combined goal difference modifier (I wish there were an easy way to say what I mean) would need to be ten goals for Reading to endanger Bolton.

It's better than that for Bolton - they're 11 goals clear of going down.

For Bolton to be relegtad both Fulham and Reading would have to win, whilst making up 5 and 11 goals respectively - Ain't happening!!

I'm going to say Birmingham only get a draw, Reading win. But Fulham also win with a last minute goal from McBride as no Pompey defender wants to put his foot in with the cup final just round the corner.

Now see Birmingham win!!

I'm quite sure that Derby is going down ;-)

I can't believe you are all writing Derby off!

Hang on, I've just realised that this thread is called "Who's going down?"

Can I amend my first answer to "Me, since Liverpool aren't playing at home this weekend," and still be amusing?
2008-05-09 22:59:43
that would be an affirmative.

if things stay as they are at half-time its Reading that are safe, and goodbye Birmingham and Fulham. and at the other end of the table Man U look good for the title but definitely a threat of an equaliser from Wigan.

As well as Steve Bennett being such a girly wus! Scholes should have walked by now and that was never a penalty....

i agree scholes should have been carded for the 2nd offence, but it was a fair penalty. the problem is so was Rio's handball which wasn't given.
