beckhams starting and i think terrys captain
2008-05-28 21:02:57
Yep, 101st cap for Beckham.

Legend in my opinion.
2008-05-28 21:03:41
I couldn't be bothered going to it - not gone to a game since the Croatia debacle.

Hope it's entertaining, but from a results view it's meaningless. Good chance for Capello to learn more about the side.

is anyone else bored of international football. and i dont mean because we're out of it but i mean bored for the past several years.

for some reason i just cant watch international football. not after the 2002 world cup
2008-05-28 21:05:35
I wouldn't say totally meaningless. I still haven't been to an England game...how much is an average ticket to a friendly?
2008-05-28 21:06:56
national anthem sounds a shiver down my spine every time :)
god the american ones awful
3-0 win coming up :)

Last time i remember getting excited was in Sven's reign. Looking back he did pretty well really didn't he?
2008-05-28 21:08:08
Always watch it, doesn't matter how bad they play, I always end up watching the next match.
2008-05-28 21:08:49
well theres nowt else on so why not
2008-05-28 21:10:13
Performance matters, W D or L won't have any bearing on WC campaign.

Tickets up to Croatia priced at £30, £40, £50 and £60 but members get £5 off all home tickets. They may have been brought down a touch following our failure to qualify for Euro 2008 though, I didn't check the prices for this one. The Swiss friendly was definitely cut-price.
2008-05-28 21:11:32
i like the second round of the world cup
2008-05-28 21:15:14
same price as the play off tickets then, i imagine wembley charges the same for any match then.

@Jimmy, i reckon sven was fantastic but lacked the balls to be a great England coach and push them that bit further. anyway the stats say he was our second best post war manager after Sir Alf. not bad eh?

always causes controversy saying you liked sven though!

good to see Defoe playing, i'd like to see Ashton and Downing getting a go again, Downing is a a tough one to justify but there's something about him, failing that Kieran Richardson.
2008-05-28 21:21:25
I don't rate Defoe, I think he has a decent shot and that's it.

I'd like Walcott to come on at HT.
2008-05-28 21:26:25
thank you for this post. you have ensured my next 90mins of staving off cabin fever in my hotel room.
its exactly 1 month (although that is not real an exact time frame what with there being 4 possible lengths of month) since my accident. I WANT TO GO BACK TO MY HOME IN THE NORTH!!!! Arrrrgggghhhh! wibble.
2008-05-28 21:41:34
walcott still isn't ready for england although i'd love to have his pace in the team, if lennon got fit and plays alot more games they'd be 2 fantastic players just on pace and dribbling alone.

as for defoe, i reckon he's one of the best finishers in the premier league, bit of an all rounder and not a great deal of a work horse (not many strikers are) but could be a good partner for rooney
2008-05-28 21:43:42
and as i post that he fluffs a sitter

i'll get my coat.
