Defoe needs to learn that the keeper isn't the target.

think defoe has been unlucky so far, he's doing well until it comes to the finishing although this keeper has done well.

the goals have been good but the play has been average

agreed, massive set piece merchant and couldn't perform at anything else against a better team.

i'd rather see a footballer play there and not a set piece taker.

I think that must be a taste thing as i rate set pieces a lot more importantly than that, and his workrate and determination is something i also admire.

I can't believe there are so many anti-Beckham's...he's got 101 caps for Ken's sake. Some people forget England wouldn't have made it to the 2002 World Cup if it wasn't for a Beckham set piece!

you have to expect average play when england have a friendly. shame really you'd think they'd be out to impress.

good vision from barry to release gerrard. i've got to say i would build this team around him, not the best player we have obviously but he is the closet thing to a consistant midfield general we have. i'd have him pulling all the strings for england.

no. a set piece comes from a deadball situation. e.g. free kicks and corners

Then what about all the crosses David Beckham has made in to goals in his England career? A stat we will never know in comparison to another player in his 101 appearances that doesn't cross, i guess.

nah a cross isn'ta set piece but you have to be able to beat a man to get most your crosses in, cant see beckham doing it anymore enough times to make him effective.

determination and work rate is fine but he was never physical enough to make it a key part of his game, cant head or dribble. still a fantastic passer of the ball but he's too one dimensional now.

as for him taking us to the world cup 2002, wel theres no room for nostalgia in football if you want to move forward.

I think Beckham was a good player, I just think, that now, he is relying on his set piece ability.
