which also goes down to football in schools and so on..

Its a good thing imo, but it still will not stop the big 4 buying the cream of the players from the smaller clubs.

whats all this ken business redjim? i know bloody noobs!

anyway the best way for footballers to develop is through training and playing against better competition, now by forcing the competition out of a leauge you will lower the quality of young english players coming through. this rule by blatter is so against the nature of "sport" its laughable.

and what of all the african players in england, france and belgium, basically you are forcing them out of a decent career by reducing the amount of clubs they can go to.

and what about the UK, will irish players count as foreign? will scottish players count as foreign? what about cardiff, will they need to field 6 english or welsh players?

Cardiff is in England.

news to me jaize. ;)

what im saying is what if the EU decide to budge. they affect countries and not football associations so im not sure what would happen.

it won't. Supp Bitter is an old windbag trying to push his weight around. Employment law is not geared up to that apart from that odd bit where Italian restaurants can employ only Italians "for authenticity". Would it be more authentic to have Englishman in the majority? probably not. Surely most fans of English footie are pleased that it attracts the best in the world. Bitter will never be able to change that.

could be good for the NT though if they all claim there english to play in the english league then we get to play them :)
2008-05-30 18:55:22
im surprissed the English FA didn't throw this out straight away rather than vote for an investigation into it.
2008-05-30 19:10:53
i'm not sure we could cope with the sudden influx of andorrans
2008-05-30 21:17:51
being a chelsea fan you would think i'd hate the idea, but i think its a great idea.chelsea have had some excellent youngsters but sold them on as they have no experience.play the players and guess what they will have experience.i blame kenyon send the idiot back too manure
2008-05-30 22:00:39
newcastle will be alright tis all that matters
but do welsh scottish and irish players count?
2008-05-30 22:03:04
Depends if it's done on the basis of being independent countries or on the basis of having a football association.
2008-05-30 22:18:29
last time they brought the 3 foreigner rule in it didn't count.if memory serves me correctly its something to do with the fa's(english, welsh, etc)that were worried that if scots irish &welsh players played as non foreigners that the national teams would have to unite under a gb team.
2008-05-30 23:22:10
To be honest its all immaterial.

The European employment courts will chew up Sepp Blatter and spit him out like a bad Ken job!
2008-05-30 23:23:33
2 words : David Bentley. Could have been huge at Arsenal, couldn't get in the team because he wasn't in the French clique.
