Does "wont" have an apostrophe after the n, I just typed "wont" into word, and it gets a green line under it suggesting it's wrong.

Yes, it does. And yes, i do know what your next question is going to be, and i think the answer is 'will not'.

I already knew that, it's just it's not an abbreviation of 2 words, rather a seperate word all together.

Thx for the answer anyway.

I thought your second question was going to be "then what is the un-abbreviation?".

I know what you mean, that's why i can't be sure i'm right...i guess willn't sounds a bit odd?

Willn't does sound odd.

well it is both.

won't is an abrrev. of will not.

wont means custom or habit, as in "it was his wont to do his team tactics regularly."

Penchant is a better word than wont for that though.

true but penchant means a strong liking for and wont has an air of ritual or habitual behaviour about it.

and it sounds too poncy for a northerner to be using too.

Bah. Mustn't sound uberodd for me. Been learning English for 12 years now, and I realised it's not musn't a week ago...

I have been learning English for a lot longer than that and I assure you penchant is a manly word!
2008-05-30 23:43:19
I guess it's one of those 'I'm-coming-from-thefrogeaters' words?

your English is excellent. It is indeed.
