Subject: Nottm Forest Rant

2008-06-18 22:22:27
Based on last season, in terms of the Championship I'd say that our defence is unpredictable yet generally solid, midfield is mediocre and uninspiring with occasional flashes of being able to play, Tyson is ok up front, but when we play 4-3-3 with strikers playing as wingers (particularly Grant Holt) we look awful and I don't know why he (Calderwood) does it. Earnshaw should make a difference imo, as our worst quality last season was putting the ball away. That said the whole squad has a tendancy to back off when the opposition have the ball and let them run with it, so a psychotic hassling midfielder would do us wonders, I feel.

Is Sammy Clinghan any good?. Earnshaw will score goals in the Championship 20+, so he should be a good buy for you.

He works quite hard but he's not very exciting other than that; doesn't score and gets over-excited if he's in a decent position upfield and tends to spoon things. I'm not a fan of him really, but quite a few people rate him.

Holt is off as well - so that will please you then Jim.

So if Tyson or Earnshaw get injured does it mean I get a game up front?

my opinion on forest is that last season was another bad one for them, considering that performances on the pitch left them third place considering leeds 15point deduction a whole 11 points off second in the actual table. and saying they were red hot favourites they only ever justified it on the occasion and then towards the back end of the season.

a well earned promotion but a poor campaign, if you were in this league this season i don't think you'd make automatics simply because of calderwood and his lack of attacking football.

earnshaw was a rip off thats already come back to bite forest now that cardiff have demanded a higher transfer sum for wittingham which forest pulled out off, rightly so to.

agogo's sale was a great bit of business as he was barely capable in league one as for clingan i really dont know what he ever did. he's ok but doubt he'll be considered a good championship player.

commons was garbage, lazy and didn't give a toss about forest so i dont think many tears were shed for him. some forest fan he turned out to be.

i dont think forest were good value for their promotion and the chairman has dropped a clanger in the transfer market by making a big money signing too early, your one saving grace is a solid enough defence and midfield and calderwood is a negative minded, all out defence coach so he'll probably last one season in the championship, keep forest up in the process but needs to be shifted to achieve anything.

you need three strikers, a back up goalie and full backs. any added strength to midfield is needed but opitional. just seems too much this season to ask anymore than lower mid table. can't see them relegating anyway

As a supporter of the other Nottingham team I would like to say that forest will go down. Again. After losing to the sheep. Twice.

Edit: with kris commons scoring 2 hattricks, and Earnshaw getting double his last seasons tally all season for forest.

Anderson has snubbed another season at Liverpool to come to us on loan from the season from Liverpool. He should make up for Commons (for a season at least).
2008-06-28 13:40:39
He snubbed Liverpool to go on loan?

Don't you mean Liverpool allowed him to go on loan because he's not good enough to play for Liverpool at present, and most likely never will be?

I'm talking nonsense on stilts. He snubbed a repeat season loan at Swansea (not Liverpool).
Clearly he's too pap to play for Liverpool at present, but he had a decent enough season with Swansea - 8 goals and their young player of the year, so he can't be all bad.

you're quite an angry young man, aren't you?

Not as angry as this chap:

as a fluent german speaker i can confirm that that is almost an exact translation... except you missed the bit where he briefly gets happy and excited... this is when he realises that there is no truth in rumors regarding the signing of titus bramble.

With regard to the original post (which I wanted to reply to on my hol but couldn't bear to txt type), You'll probably get a better idea of how forest will deal with next season in the next week, as most player contracts run till the 1st July. There will be a lot of movement this week, hopefully in Norwichs case especially, as we only have 12 first team players, although there are rumours of new investment for us tomorrow.

Who'd be a championship fan eh ?
2008-06-29 20:56:12
are you actually a fluent german speaker?
2008-06-29 20:57:19
I dunno, Wolves' signing look very promising so far.....

Optimism is rising for the season, other teams start to say, wow, Wolves should do well this season, wish we'd bought so and so...

7th place it is then.

To be honest, I thought Forest could do well, but unless they are only allowing players to leave, and players are only leaving, because they know players are going to be announced as signed shortly, then they may struggle, I would still expect them to stay up though.

just heard forest are trying to sign andy cole on 25k a week, reportedly.

if thats true then the forest chairman is as mad as he is tall. and he's pretty tall.
