Subject: Anti Virus

2008-06-24 20:29:53
I browsed back 2 years in Freestyle england, however despite all of that, couldn't find a thread I remembered.

Anyhow, my 2 free concurrent subscriptions to McAffee have run out. What should I do?

Subscribe again? £40...
Buy Norton Slowyourcomputerdown? £40
But PC World's Notaviruskiller £15

Any other suggestions???

i use AVG. completly free but obviously doesn't offer the level of protection some anti virus software does.

You can live without anti virus, you just have to give up porno [;

I'm using avast since one year and I had no problems with bugs. My pendrive got virused but I suspect that it happened at the university.

I used to use AVG, found it clunkier and tried Avast then stuck with it for the last 2 years. No problems, works for me, would recommend it.

I use the Kerio free one. Haven't tried any others.

I use AVG and find it really easy to use and doesn't slow the computer at all. Updates by itself and does everything in the background.....touch wood no viruses at all so far. ;)

It is what the computer bloke we use at work recommended and uses himself.

same here, had a bloke who owned his own tech support company recommend AVG for me to. sounded like he knew his stuff and you dont usually argue against professionals :D

updates regulary and you never really need to get involved with its maintenance. only ever flags up major viruses all the others it quietly deals with.

i think its the top free one out there.our works computers are protected by it also.

NOD32 is the best one... but its not free, though you can get hacked one [;

The only think I found with it was it took absolutely ages to run scans. I haven't had that problem with Avast.

Well I used to have Norton, and my computer used to take forever to load everything before I could use it once I switched it on. With AVG its so quick!

I think its great personally. I will never pay for an Anti Virus program again......

I never even notice it scanning my computer, only it says its finished..........maybe its the computer speeds and processing tools? I have no idea as I am no computer geek unfortunately. :(
