I never even notice it scanning my computer, only it says its finished..........maybe its the computer speeds and processing tools? I have no idea as I am no computer geek unfortunately. :(

My computer is a bit pants, so that probably has some bearing on it!
2008-06-24 23:12:08
I use AVG and i have never had any problems at all.
2008-06-24 23:13:04
Mine was getting that way but I just stuck 2mb extra memory in it....well the computer bloke above did....its much faster now. I wish I knew how to do these typof things. lol
2008-06-24 23:19:14
are you sure its 2 mb? [:
2008-06-24 23:28:22
No I think I am wrong, it was 1 GB but I had a further 2 Gb put in making it a 3GB. Does that make sense?

Anyway I had the computer custom built for quite a bit of money a few years back, so it has lots of space for upgrades etc.

AVG is fine.

I use bullguard which is great - runs in background and doesn't use much memory.
2008-06-25 12:19:51
Yeah i use AVG and it is good but when it scans it really is resource hyungry so best to set it to run when your not doing anything on your machine.
2008-06-25 12:21:02
Oh and firewall wise I usually use zonealarm but havent actually been using any for the last few months.
2008-06-25 14:46:44
I used to use ZoneAlarm, but something in my distant memory annoyed me about it.

Have now installed Avist, but will consider AVG if it appears pants.

AVG is bloaty, and will run slowly on older machines. We have problems with it at work on some of our older machines.

AVG 8's built in search scanner is a piece of bums which uses up unnecessary bandwidth. I would urge people to uninstall the search scanner functionality at the very least. For the good of the Internets y'all.

And for those of us that only speak english, how would one go about doing such a task?
2008-07-09 23:23:23
using the command line, reset the default parameters to the necessary optimum settings via the IP address conduit transfer system to ensure that the bandwidth is not over-burdoned by inefficient ping-lead scanning of interupptable level 2 traffic.
