"although I'm starting to find medium a bit tough as I get into Knights of Cydonia territory if I'm honest."
its them galloping triplets right? it got me for a bit but you smash through it with time, then raining blood is the nextbugger to get through.
KOC on hard took me ages but its not that hard in comparison to some songs.

Knights of Cydonia on Hard is the one i'm currently stuck on!
i'm ok with that ( i think), but get a bit lost where the synth cuts in in the middle 8. To be honest I've only had one go at that song, most of them I'm getting through first time, it's just the battles I get stuck on so far. I get the impression that I'm reaching my "level" pretty soon though :)
Yes, yes and more yes. Love the game.
I guess it helps that I'm a good drummer (and therefore have rhythm, even if I can't spell it) and also fanny around (technical term) on an acoustic guitar so therefore have reasonable fingering.

I find x/4 time quite easy. It's the odd number/8 time signatures that I can struggle with. Refrigerator Car by the spin doctors is 9/8 and I struggled with that for years. There's a 5/8 song I can't get my head around, either, but I can't remember what it is. And there's a Sting album with a song in 7/4, one in 7/8 and one in 5/4 but the drummer (Vinnie Colaiuta...used to be Zappa's drummer iirc) is ace and sort of smooths them all out by phrasing his drum pieces over two or more bars. He's probably the best drummer I've seen live. (Yes, that does mean I've been to see Sting live)
I've never seen the point of the game. I've never liked the games where you have to press coloured buttons in time.
Legato techniques are what made a guitar piece scream and I can't see how that can be done with just buttons.
Also, some of the best guitar pieces aren't played at 140bpm.
Playing online in a "Rock Band" has got to be lower than playing World of Warcraft. Then again. I do watch stick men kick a football about.

To be honest, I expected more negative feedback from this thread adam, but I guess this is a place for geeks :)...
I kind of agree in that it's nothing like as flexible as actually playing, it can't be. It's probably more like playing a bass than a guitar, as there's only so much you can do with hitting buttons in time. I think it's probably a good way of getting people who like the idea of playing guitar, but can't be arsed to learn, to feel involved in the music, as you get to follow the chord sequence changes, and they've gone for a lot of songs with strong rhythm. Knowing your scales is probably a disadvantage though, as the sequences of buttons don't neccesarily follow the logic of pitch, e.g. you change buttons because the chord changes, but up can sometimes be down.

Is it 5's and 7's by QOTSA? That one gets right on my thruppennies.
Other than that, the last battle song is pretty killer.
Wiki has a page with all the song titles on it, jaize. There are some differences between platforms, though, so make sure you're looking at the right page.

ta wop.
does that mean you have completed the game and are therefore miles better than ncn?

If he can do Knights of Cydonia on Medium he's better than me at the moment :)...
so basically the harder the level the more notes you play? should be easy enough...
basically yes. on easy you play the bottom 3 buttons, on medium 4 buttons, hard is all 5. There are also more fills in the songs as you progress I think. Certainly more to do.
The only thing I dislike about it (which may not be true when you go from hard to expert, as I've not played it enough to get going on expert) is that a song on medium level doesn't just have added notes. If the first note on easy is green, say, it may be red on medium (as an example). As you go up through the levels, you don't "build" on what you might already know. It's like learning a whole new song.
I have Donkey Kongas on the gamecube, and the easier versions of the songs are simply the harder versions with some notes removed, thus the transition from level to level (for a given song) is easier. There are, however, more songs on GHIII so once you've conquered the last group of songs on easy, the first group on medium should be within your reach, so it's a decent transition in that respect. But playing Cydonia on medium to try and help you get through hard is a no go, unfortunately.

Devil went down to Georgia, or the Dragonforce one ?
Apparently there's 26 notes per second on the Dragonforce one.

The devil one. I don't really count the dragony one in my head although it is insanely hard.
