ermejo [del] to All
there you go, great win over croatia, the man is a winner and england is going to be in the semis in the world cup almost for sure, he won't get the free flowing football but he knows what it takes to get teams to win trophies
2008-09-10 23:22:25
The man is a legend. I heard that no team have ever beaten Croatia at home.
2008-09-10 23:26:25
How quick is Walcott? Hes like a greyhound with a rocket up his arse!
2008-09-10 23:28:00
Finally adding some finishes to that speed. Well played Capello, I think England can actually be proud of that performance (especially i might add the first half where they closed Croatia down and really stopped them playing)
2008-09-10 23:28:22
Quicker than that. Try Flash Gordon.

Capello was and is exactely what England needed to lift the NT spirit...
I still cant believe how much was wasted on Eriksson and whichever tosser took the job after him...
It will be nice to see England performing well at the '10 WC...

I watch Walcott a fair bit at the Emirates and he is always that quick. This time, perhaps for the first time, and certainly when they were down to 10, he showed composure in front of goal.
Good to see Rooney contribute too. We need more of the same.

he's quicker than a greyhound with Flash Gordon up his arse?

and next time England lose or we dont smash some minnow team Capello will be a clueless idiot and England will do well to qualify.

the England manager merry-go-round is always interesting.
2008-09-11 09:32:29
Yes, this is the first time after a lot of years that someone beats Croatia at home..
England deserved the victory and I hope next time Croatia will be less f***ing arrogant!!

Congratulations!

hmm, wht happened/ did croatia flop, or england play great, or a mixture of the 2, we hate setanta.
2008-09-11 12:53:32
we looked pretty good and worth 1-0

after they went to 10 men England looked very good - but you can't take very much from that really
2008-09-11 14:31:55
What's with this "we hate setanta" rubbish? Why not hate the terrestrial channels for thinking that 50 mill on the F1 is a better investment than a couple of mill on arguably England's most crucial world cup qualifying game?
2008-09-11 14:50:39
F1 is so dull!! i wish terrestial did more to get more football on the box.
2008-09-11 14:53:48
how much more would you be willing to pay in license fees? think of what the concessions cost these days. if you had it on terrestrial then either the BBC would charge a fortune for a license, which is not really fair on the non-footie watching public, or you would have to break the game into quarters (as per the USA aborted plans when they hosted the world cup) to allow for all the advertising on ITV + C4.

Also in e.g. F1 you can see everyone compete in a single showing. In footie unless you swamped the chanels you woul only ever show say 3 games a weekend so 6 sides, or at any one scheduling 2 sides; hardly a representative cross section of the viewing public.

One match a week would be more representative than F1.
