One match a week would be more representative than F1.
2008-09-11 15:08:04
12.5m people watched the last F1 race of the season, compared to 8.9m viewers for the FA cup.

12.5 milliong geeks is hardly a cross section. 8.9 million people from all walks of life is a cross section.

does that figure include those who watched it in the pubs? or those who go round to their mates house? not to mention the rather uninspiring fixture that it was.

anyway i cant understand why the BBC wont allow commercial endorsments for football to help pay for it rather then shelling out tonnes of cash for terrible shows about attics and car boots sales.

hw much of the bbc programme schedule is pure dirge, i'd say most of it.

So true. If I paid a license fee, I'd be incensed.
2008-09-11 15:18:22
sorry mate. i've worked in typical local pubs in the UK and also golf clubs, and both have a lot of demand for F1. i don't know why as i also thiink its dull as sheeeet but facts is facts.
2008-09-11 15:19:47
exactly. why should you pay money for a station that doesn't - or at least very rarely - represent you and your interests. at least when the football is on i can watch the BBC but it's rare and they dont represent the Football League at all.
2008-09-11 15:26:34
do you honestly think your interests are representative of the british viewing public? sadly the majority of tv is by morons fo morons because that is what the general public wants. it is only right that specialist interests - and yes that includes football - are kept on dedicated chanels. tyhe problem is that to get Sky Sports you have to pay for all the complete dross chanels as well.

i understand the emotive arguments being put forward, but that is all they are.

But..but...but footy>attics

who is willing to watch grays athletic v greenwich and a few boring andorra and scotland games for an extortionate price per month? not me, they can stick their irish cameras you know where.
2008-09-11 23:34:35
Sounds like a great idea for the next reality tv show.
"When Irish eyes are streaming (live football)"

I assume you're including this week's mauling of croatia 4-1 at their place in with "a few boring andorra and scotland games"
