I'd sooner see Richards at right back: even if he's out of position he's a bit more lively, then Johson, and even Neville, when he's fit, over Brown - Brown gets on my tits; he's a hapless cynical clumper and only in the team due to inexplicably being a Man U regular. If Alan Hutton was English I'd have him in an instant, purely based on what a class act he looked for Scotland last season. Anyway.

Really think a 5 man midfield might do the job.

Brown on left? Rooney as left alone striker while playing wide winged game? Ahem.

One player who did look extremely poor from what I saw of the highlights was Ashley Cole, he gave the ball away so often, unfortunately we have very little choice in that area.

We can always turn Gael Clichy English, he has been in the country for at least 5 years hasnt he.

Oh yh he played 1 match for the French National Team.

2nd choice to the muppet above and again Bridge is hardly ever fit. To be fair though from what I saw of Motd last night Cole did look a different player......

Cole's a fantastic left back, he's struggled to adapt at Chelsea to their more defensive style, now Scolari's in charge, I fully expect him to shine, gain confidence and perform for England like he did a few years ago.

I certainly hope so as I did used to rate him at Arsenal.

I'll always remember his performance against Portugal when he marked Ronaldo out of the game, one of the best defensive full back performances I think I've ever seen, it was at that point I became a Cole fan.

yeah i'll never forget that game. you dont often see full backs putting in defensive work like that for the entire game. problem is he's never got close to matching that performance since then.

he is a greasy little bugger though, he dosent deserve cheryl.
