Subject: Croatia 1-4 England

2008-10-13 09:26:51
We were dire against Kazhakstan......Wednesday we had better play better or the group will be wide open again imo.

As crap as we were, I can't see us losing to Belarus (thinks about dusting down hat just in case required to eat it on Thursday morning).

The bit I found really frustrating was our complete lack of creativity around their box - the number of times we had lampard/gerrard et al on the ball and they didn't know what to do with it, and no one around them made the runs. We just passed it square until they broke up the play or we had to pass it back. IMO if England didn't have pacey wide men we'd be screwed.

Having typed this I don't know why I'm even surprised. I've been watching England since '82, and sadly not much has improved...

soory but we were'nt,how can a team break down ten men, soory but don't say bad things about england

look at it in away, that if u were in there shoes you would feel the pressure of the game and the crowd

They had 10 men behind the ball....and yet they should have scored a couple before us? They must have had a hugely impressive lone forward mate. ;)

You have a valid point there but not wholly.

i know and i'm only 14 and been watching since i was eight and was always discusted with peopl and the press slaging tham of,just like saturday when the crowd booed at ashley cole gave a goal a way

but peopl speak out but now to the players faces, why don't they go and play if they think there could do it better

basically i don't like people slaging them of

To be fair if they were earning normal wages and did not act like prima donnas then most people wouldn't moan at them.

As for ashley Cole I did not agree with the booing....but I doubt hes popular due to non football reasons really.
2008-10-14 14:40:01
I agreed with it. These people have shelled out fifty quid or whatever to watch someone who gets paid 100k a week do something that probably would have been poor even in a pub team (like liechtenstein ;)). I think they've every right to boo.
2008-10-14 14:41:25
Was that because you are jealous of his marriage to Cheryl though or just football reasons?
2008-10-14 14:42:28
Just that pass from a 100k a week footballer. I'm a little old to be getting jealous about stuff like that, mate.

Edit: I must add I think he's played his best football since deserting Arsenal these last few weeks. So not even general footballing reasons, really. That specific pass from someone who was purportedly the best left back in the world at one point.

I agree to an extent...but not that hes one of the best left backs in the world.
2008-10-14 15:42:32
Who's better currently? And then cast your mind back three (four?) seasons to when he was at Arsenal. I don't think there was a better left back in the world then.
2008-10-14 15:47:35
In England none....in the world a few I think.

I think Evra is better, Glichy to me looks better than him now.
2008-10-14 15:50:42
I'm not a fan of Evra, tbh. And yeah, Clichy is about the same level as him atm, I reckon.

But still, he's up there, and then he does that.

I don't mind players making mistakes if the idea is right. But Cole's pass would almost never have been the right decision in that situation. Upson's backpass to James was equally badly thought out. And these guys shouldn't be making crap decisions like that. There seems to be a tendency creeping in to not give away a corner or an attacking throw in at almost any cost, and I don't get it. If Stuart Pearce was playing the other day, they'd still be chasing it down wembley way.
2008-10-14 16:17:09
Upson's was trying to be a bit too cocky in my opinion. He wouldn't have done that against a top side. I have never rated ashley ever since he put on am england jersey. He keeps thinking he's a winger but he kept dribbling and losing it. I think he has curbed that a bit now but i still prefer bridge.

Ever done anything in front of 50,000 people Woppa ?

Just wondered...

Nope, but he's played 154 times for Arsenal, 57 for Chelsea, and 68 for England. That doesn't include reserve teams, age group teams and Crystal Palace. He can't use that as an excuse any more, and nor could I 270 odd times in.
