dylanos [del] to All
1 Chelsea
2 Liverpool
3 Arsenal
4 Hull

thanks to Newcastle's ability to lose to just about any team, no matter how rubbish they are, Hull are this morning in line for european football next year! it won't last, but at least they have another 3pts to look forward to at the end of the season when we have to play them at their ground. ha. we couldn't beat Derby last season, we can't beat Hull this season. time to stop worrying so much about the manager and take a long hard look at the players. i'm looking forward to participationg in the League football thread next season

ha. i'm actually thinking of giving up on them! at what point is it acceptable to drop your aleigance? if it were my home town the answer is NEVER but i started supporting them due to the geordie lass i was engaged to 17yrs ago. in that time they have caused me nothing but pain and disappointment. my home team now is Oshakati City, in the Namibian premiership. maybe i should give them all my love instead. bah.

"ha. i'm actually thinking of giving up on them! at what point is it acceptable to drop your aleigance?"

never!!

Leeds isn't my home town but you can't turn your back on a team once they turn crap, even if it is newcastle.

anyway you'll like league football. Preston on a rain soaked tuesday night? yes please!

buying non league footballers because you have no money left. oh yes!

Terracing? No Roof? concrete pillars? getting entered in cups in the early stages? brilliant!

Darlington FC (4th league, ranked 10th atm)...?

you can't turn your back on a team once they turn crap

er... we have been crap for 17yrs! its not the fact that we are losing, it is the fact that the owner is a twat, our managers have been disasterous and the way they are picked and then treated even worse, the players make no effort and consistantly under perform, and the fans have turned it into mob rule while suffering the riddiculous delusion that we are still a top 5 club. why is a football team supposed to be so different? if i had as many gripes with a marriage as i have with Newcastle then people would tell me to get a divorce, but with the team they say you have to stick with it. we will not actually go down, we will just have another mid table finish and i stuck with it when we relegated before anyway.

but when a team gives you nothing to support, because you do not like any aspect of the club anymore, why stick with it? i enjoy watching premiership football but not newcastle, because our football is shite. we used to play exciting football even though it was not successful. now we just play half hearted dross. Oshakati City have no hope of winning the prem here, but they do give it 100% and at least you feel they are playing to the best of their limited ability. and the fans are awesome, match days rule (especially at a quid a match) and the atmosphere, with bbqs and beers and kids up in trees watching over the wall, makes for a genuine great day out. this is real football.

You are of course right on both points.

There are not many points in my life where I have felt utter dispair, but of those there are it often concerns at least some of the following: Hillsborough in the rain with a 10 degree wind chill, "professional" players playing monkey tennis, a gifted manager at his previous club turning into a spastic baboon as soon as his feet are under the desk, stunningly bad transfer choices, more bad apples running the club than at a mortgage bank, blue pies.

Combine these with eternal pessimism and a myopic outlook of the club as a whole doesn't really bode well for me being an Owls fan.

Having said that, when they do even just OK and put in a bit of effort the whole world seems somehow a smidgen better for it. For that alone I will always support the Owls.

Having said that, you should still be screaming for Oshakati when you can as grass roots footie needs all the support it can get, and who knows? Maybe the Namibians will get to knock out the Magpies in some as-yet-unknown world club competition of the future?!

i knonw, i know, that's the problem isn't it... somehow we still give a damn. i certainly will be a regular for Oshakati matches, and if there is such a thing i will even buy the shirt! one thing i could NOT do is support another premiership side, i'm just not sure i really support the toon anymore :(

you just summed up pretty much every football fans emotions ever. it's never good anywhere you go because if your not on the top your rubbish, and no one wants that.

even liverpool fans were protesting and although they've not won the prem they have still won plenty of trophies. if you feel passionate about something it's hard to take losing. it's even harder to take having some world class toss pot in charge, and some nasty little turd buying the players.

i would watch your local team though. grass roots is fantastic stuff and by sounds of it Oshakati have a real party atmosphere. but i wouldn't give up on Newcastle, Football is all about ups and downs.

ill support nufc til i die unless we collapse or something.

although i did promise some gal hus well into her football and has a season ticket at villa that id support them if they brought milner and taylor :\ now im worried lol

dont wana imagine what its guna be like wen we lose to them lol

at least now all the newcastle fans dont fink that we'll be challenging for europe every season

Do not despair Newcastle fans... there's some promise there yet.
