Subject: Sheff Utd West Ham compensation
No, he had the word spot on. A referee can give a foul for intent, this includes a penalty, but he would have to be sure that the player lost his opportunity to play the ball as a result of getting out of the way of the tackle.

And it starts....now the Sheff Utd players are trying to sue West Ham for loss of earnings and bonuses.
This whole thing is a farce, and Sheff Utd should be ashamed of what they are now bringing football to.
What next....

West ham will sue their training ground for injuring so many of your players?

They are just wasting their money on that one, twunts. Can we sue them for bringing the game into disrepute?

Seriously.......this could happen, apparently club captain Chris Morgan amongst others have contacted solicitors.
Ok so 2 failed arbitrations in their favour....finally 3rd time lucky they get one in their favour and now everybody jumps upon the Big Bandwagon!
Oh and yes they have brought the game into disrepute......I hope they never return to the Prem again, it was nice having Sheff weds in the top flight, they always had more class than them anyway. ;)

the players have a right to feel angry because their pay is reduced upon relegation and because the club is feeding their brand of BS down the players throat they will be angry.
Sheffield United are the enemies of football thats for sure, for all the crap thats gone on in football in the past few years this is the worst. Sheffield united have made it a personal vendetta to bankrupt and bury West Ham

if the players were of premiership standard, they would have been snapped up by clubs coming up, so I don't buy that argument.
sheffield united recieved stupid amounts of money from being in the prem and then 12 million in parachute payments. first off they have no need to sell and secondly they can bump up the price of their players because of the financial stabilty.
they turned down 5 million for kilgallon the other month from newcastle so thats the measure of their wealth

If a player wants to leave, they can. Nobody came in for these players with offers they can't refuse. And if you were that player, would you go to Newcastle right now ?

Now that's sour grapes. Fatty Beardy Smelly Samuels from the Times is hacked off that his oppo from the Torygraph got the phone call instead. I wish they'd stop putting Samuels' picture next to his byline because it makes me want to smash his fat beardy face in. Not a good idea when your paper is propped up against a radar screen. His lack of knowledge (presented as fact) on a number of issues has been the deciding factor in me changing my paper back to the Torygraph. Bad enough that they let him comment on football, but for him to write editorials about other things of which he has no knowledge in the sporting domain (and did I see him nearer the front of the Times the other day, too? A travesty) such as steroid use/abuse is incredible.
People who can, do. People who can't, teach. And people who can't be bothered to get off their fat arses except to pick up another pack of roast chicken Walker's crisps, journalise.

Saw a ref give a red for intent, once. Ugly guy, used to play for Villa or West Ham (sorry, only the club colours come to mind)...might it have been Lee Hendrie...dummied a headbutt towards another player, and the other player moved his head out of the way. The ref sent Lee Hendrie off for the attempted headbutt under the auspices of "intent".
playing in the EPL in a team in difficulty (I'm being polite here...) against the country's best and getting the chance to get noticed vs playing for promotion to the EPL....
difficult...
difficult...
other players bounce from one prem relegated club to another newly promoted club, it happens all the time...
