We will remember.

You spoke too soon!

*arranges angry mob with pitchforks and torches*

Typical Sunday afternoon down your way, at a guess.
2008-11-09 18:35:33
It's either that or stay at home banging blood relations. The fresh air, torches excepted, is probably the healthier option.

Nothing done at work today. Yet again. Very disappointing.

This is an interesting one at work places...my friend works in sales for a large company and his manager allowed just 1 mins silence. 2 minutes of silence was impeccably followed at my work place. We even had diverts placed on our phones that played a recorded message informing any customers that may call that we are observing the 2 minutes silence. My guess is that the more "corporate" your company is, the more it is respected. Probably completely false.

where i work, the bosses let off the fire alarm to signify the 2 mins silence, but guess what? everyone thought it was a fire.

I worked for GE - about as corporate as you can get - and they were meticulous in observing silences. and they warned us the fire alarm would be to start it first. They probably just diverted the calls to India mind

Ah maybe then. I'm currently working for british gas...maybe it's for their image?

I work for a large company. There have been arguments in the past about it and it has been observed.
I imagine the ones who cared the most in the past are no longer here.

It's a shame.

It isn't a shame, it is an outrage and a disgrace and the managers of your firm should be bloody ashamed with themselves!

There is a very good reason to remember the dead other than respect for those that made the untimate sacrifice; to remind all the kids that war is crappy and it would be much better if we didn't have any more.

Can you tell your bosses that they are knobs from me please?
2008-11-12 14:01:44
to remind all the kids that war is crappy and it would be much better if we didn't have any more.

sorry to be controversial, but i think the 2 minute silence does the opposite. it romanticises what happened to a degree.

personally, i believe it is time to move on.
2008-11-12 14:05:34
I concur. There're only five of the gits left, apparently, and only one of those did trench warfare. The history channel covers this stuff enough. You think the kids are watching that?

dylanos and Woppa are both twunts.

Anyone out there following this thread, don't listen to them as they are just the sort of unrespecting oiks that you will become if you DO NOT observe 2 minutes silence out of the 547875 minutes in an average year!
