After reading the thread about chip shops, it appears lots of people know about Nottingham more than me. No great shakes,but I was wondering if it was the centre of the SK:UK universe, so how far away from Nottingham do you all live?

and it's not a particulary nice city, gun crime is down alot now but the average friday night out there is a bit dicey. great for shopping which if you're a man is pretty irrelevent. so i say nottingham is pretty irrelevent.

I'd beg to differ on the average friday night out there is a bit dicey as I go out quite often and don't see much naughtiness other than the typical British city weekend pizzle; but then again I favour old-man pubs, the Malt Cross, and occasional gigs or forays to Rescue Rooms/Stealth. I'll recognise Nottingham is quite townie/chavtastic, but I'd argue there are plenty of places that aren't full of posers/scrotes/knife-wielding rude boys.
Tis the only place with a Hooters left, I heard. I don't know how that place stays busy considering it's out of town.

oh yeah there's plenty of good pubs in nottingham put it depends on your company, everytime i go with my mates i end up in the city center and it's rough there, plus the amount of cheap drink offers in there is ridiculous. worse than any where i've been lately.
Hooters is rammed usually i went a while ago for a friends birthday and well.... it's ok.
not been to the rescue rooms for so long now brilliant city for music. i really like nottingham but i think the ratio there between knob head and normal person is quite high.
think next time i go i'll have to search out the better pubs, bars and clubs
