exactly!, i actually get mixedup with money and hours in the day, ho come there is 60 minutes in an hour and 100 pennies in a pound, it is all so confusing

It is very straightforward, this is how weights work...

16 drams = 1 ounce
16 ounces = 1 pound
7 pounds = 1 clove
14 pounds = 1 stone
28 pounds = 1 tod
112 pounds = 1 hundredweight
364 pounds = 1 sack
2240 pounds = 1 ton
2 stones = 1 quarter
4 quarters = 1 hundredweight
20 hundredweight = 1 ton

I think the only reason that there is childhood obesity problems now is that we use metric a lot more and if we still used imperial, silly as it is, we wouldn't be so fat!

Just replace 'flesh' and 'bones' and it might become clear.

It is a variety of an old poet's way of saying, "she completes me". It is an old literature trick, Shakespeare uses it, of taking two parts that make up a whole and using the combination of them to show parity and harmony.

For grammar fiends you should look up the extended members of the metaphor family. It is somewhere between a metaphor and a synecdoche...
