Don't feel bad, teachers are some of the most stupid people I know! ;-)
hello there
can you tell me a few sentences containing hot verbs 'get at','get through' and 'get bound'?

She got bound by the pervert so he could get at it. She got through her ordeal. Or something... Get is a rubbish verb in English as it is one of the "hottest" and can be bent to almost any use if you are canny.
I'm translating a book from English to Polish and I have a question. It's a book connected with football and there's one thing I'm not sure about [so far]:
the Glory Game - is it a way to refer to football in general?

Eh? Never heard of Football being the Glorious game.
The phrase "The Beautiful Game" is a synonym for Football in this country and I think Pele used it in his autobiography which I read once.
Does this help?

A little bit of searching on the web has produced a book "The Glorious Game: Arsene Wenger, Arsenal and the Quest for Success" so perhaps you are correct but its not a phrase I would have used when thinking of football.
Not much but thanks for trying. Never heard of the term Glory Game as well. :/
all i can find is this
anyway decided to 'go around it' a bit :)
In general it's a book by Jimmy Burns, maybe you've heard about him - he writes interesting things but translating what he writes to another language is hard. This guy doesn't know when to finish a sentence, some of his sentences are really, really messed up.

The Glory Game by Hunter Davies is a great book about football. Even my girlfriend knows it, so the term can't be that obscure..
One more question [expect more of them though in near future ;)]:
guy writes about meeting Venables, quote:
Joan is no longer the owner, but Venables still feels at home in the city, as he reminds me when we meet again. It was at the English FA headquarters near Hyde Park in London that Venables had last talked to me at lenght not so long before.
Seriously, is it me or is this part f**** up? I don't get it, can someone please rephrase it?

Extended round of beer. Thats easy. I have those once a week at least.
Its when you say you are supposed to be just having one (i.e a round, as you have bought them for you and the other(s)) and then that one round gets extended as you then decide to have more than one pint.
Its normally a coy way to deal with the missus when she says why do you smell of beer and where have you been for all this time. I was just having a beer with friends love and it was just one round...

Tricky.. How about?
Venables and I talked at length quite recently at the English FA headquaters near Hyde Park in London. Last time we spoke he stated that Joan is no longer the owner, but Venables still feels at home in the city. He mentioned that again his time we talked as well.

Ok, thanks a lot!
Some parts of the text are quite troublesome, but I'm starting to get used to the style so it's getting easier with every hour...
once again thanks, and expect to hear from me in next days. :P
