What with the credit crunch and all, is there anything that looks like a Smart car ?
2008-12-24 23:24:30
Not really, most of the packages are bigger than that...
2008-12-24 23:31:47

I'm making a summary of unknown words from Rankin's Mortal Causes and I'm kinda interested...what the hell is hiedyin?!
2008-12-29 10:38:35
No idea, but from googling it, you get this...

Hi Rombout, "Big high hiedyin" (big high head one) is a comical Scots expression meaning the man (or woman) in charge. In short, a bigwig.

from here

Funny. I guess I don't need to know this word. :p

Thanks, haven't thought about using googles...

Having learned French and German at school and Uni, i'd say English is difficult to learn, though foreigners have the advantage of (American) English being forced on them by the media wherever they live. What gets my goat most? People who "fill out" forms, when they are actually filling them in!
2009-01-04 21:23:54
Fill out is correct though, so perhaps not something to get upset about.

What gets my goat is people using learned where learnt is appropriate
2009-01-04 21:31:22
where did the goat go?
2009-01-04 21:49:04
good in curry

I've got my hands on Standpoint, thanks to my friend. It looks quite decent, nice vocabulary and general level of texts. What is your opinion on it?

It certainly looks worth buying each month for me, although it's quite 'expensive' - 30 zloty for each number, which makes 4 packs of Pall Mall. Though it's worth more than those cigs I bet, eh? :)
