astonp [del] to All
are they suppose to melt?
2009-03-08 15:00:52
No, but then you shouldn't be putting them in the oven on gas mark 6.
2009-03-08 15:04:37
no oven involved, just water :/
bottle melted into the cover and holes happened.
water came out of holes.
water hurts me.
me not happy.

Damaged the bottle, hurts...

you sure it's not acid?
2009-03-08 15:17:20
nah it was definately water from the tap
i did it myself :)

Not good. I would imagine you could get a no win, no fee company on the case or sell your story to the papers or something. Hot water bottles should be tested to withstand boiling water with no problem. Just to clarify, you're not trying to fill a balloon are you?

it worked fine yesterday when my bird had it
but i use it and it dies :\
going to inspect it properly in a bit when its cooled down.

You mean that your bird had boiling water...or the hot water bottle?

Why would it neet the bottles...

If this happened recently, ie today... get a few pictures of the scolded parts of your body, I'm serious, take pictures of the Hot-water bottle and write down a report of what happened on one page.
Go immediately to the store where you bought it and show them the evidence and demand to be compensated - NOT with a new bottle but to the sum that includes compensation for severe agony.
Also go to the nearest ER and get checked for burns.
Let the bast*rds who sold you this bottle squirm before you walk away with a couple of thousand pounds. Unless of course you bought it from some Trotter in the market and then I suggest you re-evaluate your standards.

and what the fork!? you have boiling water from the tap?! It shouldn't be over 60 degrees C. Maybe your boiler is crocked.

@ borkos - she had the bottle
@ jaize - nah i got the water from the tap then boiled it
@ rog - ive sent them an email explaining everything and how if it was a child or if i was sleeping it would have led to a serious problem etc, and it was marks and spencers it was from. The burns arent really showing up on any pictures which is a bit awkward, but ive taken some anyway (Y) thanks

if it's a bad burn, go to the doctor and get it written up. That's some form of proof.
2009-03-08 17:56:17
the pains gone now (:
still a bit of a mark there, but its fading.
see what there reply's like :/

Much more importantly show us some pictures of your bird!

Unless she's a munter!

I wrote off to dualit when my toaster thingy popped out and the toast holdy bit smacked me in the chops. the marks were not substantial enough until my insurers nightmare, photoshop, was employed! Result!

I'm sure there's some disclaimer on the packaging when you buy those things telling you not to put boiling water in; or to have some cold water in and add the water from the kettle - as it's quite well know that they go funny if not. I could be wrong though.
