toonmac [del] to All
NEWCASTLE United have appointed Toon legend Alan Shearer as manager for the rest of the season.
The 38-year-old is said to be taking the hot seat as the Magpies, currently third from bottom of the table, try to battle their way to Premiership safety. bit funny its announced on april 1st...

Watching the bbc's cover of it this morning the whole thing stank of an april's fools. If it isn't, why has he picked now to help out newcastle? Very odd.

No risk. 8 games left, lots of big teams...if they go down its Ashley, if they stay up its Shearer and god status again ;)

I loved Shearer as a player. Very good timed header with a very high jump.
Don't know anything about his managerial skills.

That's because he hasn't got any! :-)

Following a long career in which he head-butted several million times (mostly footballs) I would be hesitant to rely on his 'brain'... similar to what boxers probably go through.

LOL haha

If he has the charisma to bring players together and fight for the cause, and can bring in some decent technical staff beneath him, then he has half a chance. If the players won't work for Shearer, then the toon fans won't forgive them. If this isn't their chairmans' **** or bust moment, I don't know what is.

LOL He hardly missed a 50 50 cross to the defender.. really got excellent timing. I remember the whole England game was planned around getting the cross/long ball to his head. lol so much for creativity.

I've got a kitchen work surface with more charisma than Shearer.
Do I win £5?
