I could not agree more.....the irony of it all.

We have been paying illegal charges for years to fund them.

They open call centres in Delhi to save more money, and make bigger profits.

We then have the pleasure of a minority of these call centre staff cloning our cards and stealing from us. Whilst at the same time thousands in this country are out of work.

We cannot understand our call centres.

We then have our tax money bail out the banks for over lending when being greedy to get as much interest from us folk as possible.

They then get a brilliant interest rate....do they pass it on to us?

Not sure what my point is really, but is it any wonder some people have fat mattresses instead?

Was it not very much like any other budget in the last 30 years, same stuff get taxed higher.

They should have taxed fat people. Legalise all form of drug taking, tax it. Abolish or reduce accordingly tax on Petrol to offset new fat, drug taxes. This would have made a difference. Bottom line, do what you like, but unhealthy stuff is going to be taxed, funding health service.
I would also stop pandering to the needs of criminals. Find a place stick them there, keep them there (an island somewhere will be fine) at much lower cost, use money saved for more police, train them not to kick the poo out of people without good reason. Im not a radical, just talking bloody sense.

Drinkers, smokers get taxed enough already.

People need to drive, its not an unhealthy thing, its neccessary. Ok it might kill the environment currently. But its up to industrial to develpoe, cleanerr, greener cars (red cars should be scarpped...hang on I have a red car..Im not that mad really...) But money into developing the car of tomorrow, today.

New POLICY, wow what a concept that is. Anyone want to form a party that will be just the same as the rest in 10 years when the novelty wears off and were just in it for the wage and expenses??

We used to send Criminals to Australia, nowadays they are more picky about who they take than us. We could learn a lot from our Oz compatriots.

Your argument has some flaws however, some people are obese not through their own making but a chemical imbalance in their bodies.

Smoking is a form of drug, they do get taxed a lot already, in fact the complaints made about the cost of smokers to the NHS is obsurd considering the tax they pay more than pays for their smoking related treatments from what I have heard. They would never make smoking illegal because of this fact alone.

You can't legalise all drugs, at the end of the day all drugs are bad for you even the weakest kinds.

People are fat because they eat too much or don't do enough.

"You can't legalise all drugs" - Ofcourse you can, as you say tobacco is a drug and is legal, so why should that be different to anything else, just tax it. Im not saying tou have to do the drugs, thats the individuals choice.

Alcohol is another good example. With a history of being banned, e.g. America. That turned out to be great for alcohol producers in the end, made it more popular than ever. Kids like doing stuff that they are told they shouldn't and they keep that habbit into adulthood.

If you do nothing different, or put forward different policy, how and where is the change?

My conclusion is you might as well ask people.

What is your favourite colour, Red or Blue.

Make red a little less bright, less and less the longer they are in power. Then the blue looks brighter and a better bet. Then reverse when blue get in charge.

You have fair points, but there is always an argument against these things. ;)

Heroin for example causes people to die easily. Plus users tend to commit crimes etc to feed their addiction, I am not sure you could legalise this sort of drug in any way shape or form.

Alchohol surely makes people fat, and so should be taxed higher in your case? I know plenty of people with beer bellies. lol
2009-04-23 13:59:12
Legal Heroin would be cheaper, and you'd be able to track who takes. Less crime as they can afford it. Plus less appeal as its legal.

People who take that are nuts, I don't and don't know anyone who does, but it should be a 'free' Country.

Arguements for and against is what its meant to be about, not your a whatever, and we are squeeky clean, honest. Thats the level were at in Politics nowadays and for as long as I can remember, playground level.

Its not the Alchohol making you fat, its the other contents of beer, Although Alchohol can cause craving for kebabs etc.

If your fat and drink alcohol, you'll be taxed on both, thats fair.

I drink alcohol I'm prepared to pay the tax on it. I'm not fat enough to pay tax on fat, but I am overweight. Id say the limit would be around the obese level. If I was obese Id have to pay the tax, your choice is you don't have to vote for my Policy.

But red or blue is the current choice.

If in a tight corner, mix the two together to create green, and behold your new political silver bullet. You can always claim it was inherent in your previous red and blue ones too, showing your omnipotent genius. Make sure you hide it under the carpet when you go bankrupt though...

Btw, have a look at this.

I always vote LibDem - not that it matters as my constituency is totally guaranteed Labour.

But at least the LibDem's promise they'll let me be in a democracy if they win whereas the other 2 agree my vote is worthless and always will be.
2009-04-23 15:17:11
Ditto. It doesn't bring me any great joy though; I'm always borderline being too apathetic to turn out.
2009-04-23 15:17:14
I once had a politician come around my door and say 'Don't vote SNP'

That was his policy. He didn't give a flying monkey if I voted for him or anyone else. Just as above.

I asked if he was serious politician, and he repeated his opening statement and I said goodbye.

A friend of a friend of a friend etc was a local candidate, forget which party and who told me about this, but anyway. When the one of the rival bod came round his house he invited him in for tea, sat down with him for several hours asking questions, and then when leaving was asked whether he had his vote - at which point he replied "I'm afraid not, I'm standing for the opposition" having wasted the chaps canvassing time all afternoon.

Nice tactic. Probably could achieve the same result with a series of coloured lights that changed. And a speaker saying Blue now and again.
