its a shame newcastle went down. there are a lot worse teams with worse scummy fans like hull who should have went instead, plus the away support for the toon is always great too.

Newcastle have been inconsistent for years and years. This was always going to happen at some stage, they need stability and a to give a decent manager time to get things right. The fans expectations do not help them imo.

It is a shame though, a team with such large support should never be in this state.

if newcastle win lots of games, a season in the championship will be a good laugh for their fans..

if they don't...

welcome to the world of NCN/redjim/forestman etc....

absolutely fman. the championship is a refreshing reminder that success is a privelege, not a right. Hopefully Newcastle fans will have the same lessons in humility that Forest and Norwich fans have had / are going to get this season.

And that shirt really is Ashley having a bubble at the fans. :)

Championship:
Fixture changes

United's first fixture alterations for live TV have been confirmed, with our opening day game against West Bromwich Albion transmitted live on BBC1.

We'll now travel to the Hawthorns face the Baggies -and their newly-installed manager Roberto Di Matteo - in a 5.30pm KO on Saturday 8th Aug.

Meanwhile, our visit to Roy Keane's Ipswich Town has also been claimed by the BBC (channel tbc). That's now a 5.30pm KO on Sat 26th Sept.

In between those games, we're due to visit Bloomfield Road, with the official Blackpool website reporting that this has been put back by 24 hours to a 7.45pm KO on Wed 16th Sept.

The reason for the switch was initially given by Blackpool Secretary Matt Williams:

"Newcastle are due to play Cardiff on the Saturday before our game, however, Sky have now selected that game for their Sunday lunchtime spot and as a result under Football League regulations our game has to be moved to the Wednesday."

However, this was later removed from their website.

PS: The BBC have the rights to show 10 live Championship games this season, with Newcastle appearing in two of their opening four announced picks.

Also selected are QPR v Derby County (Sat Oct 24, 5.30pm on BBC2) and Cardiff v Forest (Sun Nov 1, 2pm on BBC1).

All four games will be streamed live online for UK-based viewers only, as will all of the Championship goals.

6-1 to the mighty orient... interesting that Hughton doesn't feel the abysmal defending toons laughable attempts to defend set peices / corners isn't cause for concern.. and that the pasting was 'just a blip'

quality :-)
