to speed things up i would suggest running 4 matches at a time - 1 from each group

if there is a tie in the group will you use vote difference as the decider? I think % of votes is a better meassure than number fo votes, since the number of people voting in each math varies you should ot use an absolute meassure.

am i taking this too seriously? is anyone else flying a McVities flag out of their window?

I've been wondering about whether vote difference is good enough or not. There's a varying number of goals in footy matches and goal difference (rather than a goal ratio of some sort) is still used. It doesn't feel right, though.

That seems fair enough. We need two from each group to run at the same time, though, for the last match in each group.

I'd go for votes for, rather than vote difference, as it's a better measure of overall popularity.

That seems reasonable. I think we'll stick with that.

yeah i agree about the 2 from each group on the final day...avoids vote fixing etc!
still not convinced about the absolute vs variable meassure, as not all polls are run simultaneously therefore number of votes could just as easily be down to users logged in. that said, the % calcs would become a pain in the arse so stick with the number of votes!

edit: The shortbread only makes no.3 in the list amazingly enough. Just something about those custard creams. I think its the custard cream bit personally.

they haven't qualified yet... they have 3 group games (1 played) before the knock-out stages

Are you seriously suggesting that enough people to rig a vote (5 or 10 at a guess) would seriously attempt to give a biscuit an easier 2nd round ?

I think he's likely to be already involved in such a group. Is it possible to ban such offenders from a vote??
