British people have invented these sports (at least in their modern form) and Britain now sucks at all of them... not to mention cricket or rugby.

Some people trot out the argument that they bring in significant revenue in tourism(Jaize), I think that is a myth and no reason to keep them. Personally I would like to see them done away with altogether but at worst, at least downgraded.


I am astounded that we still have the Queen as our head of State and fork out millions of pounds of hard earned taxpayers money on her and her family that I believe could be better spent elsewhere. In my mind ‘the royals’ have little regard for the ordinary people of this country, and are in fact an embarrassment in terms of their behaviours and attitudes (Charles, Harry, and Prince Phillip to name just three!).


They perpetuate outdated values of elitism.

This country could save countless millions a year that could be better
spent on our children’s needs.

You my friend are definitely a subject, actually more of an issue. An issue and example of this world's/Britain's declining standards. You're so happy to ride the success of your predecessors/ancestors proclaiming the superiority of your British values and freedom, yet within the same breathe you denounce everything this country is built upon, starting with its Royal family and ending with jaize's attitudes. You sound like such an American hypocrite, which goes perfectly well with your "We are citizens not subjects" cheap slogan... If you had an ounce of national pride, you would have respected some of what constitutes this great nation, yet you are a weakling bent on self-criticism believing this self-purging will buy you your sanctimonious seat in heaven... well, you're wrong, now clear off!

Try and stay focused mate, there's enough work to be done without an Israeli issue here.

If you make the comparison that the UK's GDP equates to the national average wage, it works out that Joe Average would pay £17.30 to run the royal family on his salary of a few quid shy of £25000.

Yes 150 million is a lot of money to the individual, but peanuts to the country.

I'd argue that the tourism pounds that the royal family bring into the country far outweighs the cost to the tax-payer.

if we didnt have the royal family, there will not be so many american and japanese tourists going round taking pics of everything.

anouther thought ; all these royals who are currently alive will surely live past 100 with the standard of life they had/have.

my job right now is tourism development and as a pseudo expert i agree totally that the royal family earns its keep as a major factor in tourism in England
