Kathryn Williams - check! The rest I will check out, ta dude xx
how are franz ferdinand the headline act? they are CACK!
probably because they are very popular and quite good live.
i disagree. why not bruce springsteen? why not kasabien? those 2 are miles better and miles more popular, and are muuch better.
mainly because they were on the main (pyramid) stage and as good as they are, they can't be in two places at once...
The Prodigy are headlining the Other Stage today (Sunday)!
and the Chemical Bros. are touring California at the mo...

I'm not that keen on Franz Ferdinand, but they do construct pop songs effectively. My problem with them is you can see their working too easily I suppose. Over-thought is the word that comes to mind. But I'm a surly beggar, so what do I know.
I find Franz Ferdinand catchy but easily irritating.
Coming from a Bloc Party & Maximo Park fan though...
Speaking of, I thought Maximo Park were good, apart from the frontmans awful dancing :')

I also like both those. Bloc Party are managed by a bloke who used to be in my missuses' exes' mates' band. He was their drummer, and then one day he got a job in the band menswear. Then I guess he got a proper job as a manager.
There was barely a crowd at Maximo. I was a few rows back from the front, and there was easily enough room for some copycat dancing of Paul Smith. I also wore an inflatable horse on my head.
Highlight of the weekend was Friendly Fires. Danced my tits off for a good 45 minutes or an hour or whatever it was.
Disappointment of the weekend: Doves.
Surprise of the weekend M. Ward. Always loved his voice, but his albums are a bit downbeat in a lot of places. The set he did on the "blue square premier league" stage was so cheery, and laced with the most awesome guitar work of the weekend. Absolute class.
Eclectic set of the weekend: Easy Star All Stars on the saturday, also up the blue square stage. Blue skies, beer, and a reggae band covering Radiohead songs. What more do you need?
Media sluts of the weekend: Bombay Bicycle Club and their three sets on various stages over the three days. They mentioned their new single at every gig. They're bloody brilliant, though.

Welcome home Wop!
I actually saw you on telly and said to a mate, hmmm, I bet that horse represents something deep... I won't bother telling him it obviously didn't!
RE: Friendly fires - am agree
RE: Doves - am unagree - they came across grand on telly.
Funny that you don't mention Ms's Allen or Gaga...

Doves were very polished and that. But, I might as well have been in my tent with doves on my ipod on shuffle, and removing the ones where the bassist doesn't sing. Apart from the one in the encore, of course. Very close to the cd, so that was good, but nothing extra.
Maximo on the other hand, managed to be both very polished and exciting to watch, both times I saw them.
Not dissing doves, merely expressing an opinion on their live "show".

I will of course bow to your view, I have been to loads of gigs and always appreciated the "value added" ones the most, apart from Radiohead who are brilliant regardless...
I was very impressed with Pendulum though, not really had much to do with their kind of sound, but the stage set looked fantastic! Did you see the Boss?

No Boss for me. I think I was up at M. Ward while he was starting, and then couldn't be arsed walking to the pyramid for an act I don't really like.
