Sadly embargoed for that week, despite provision of snorkel and sef-contained air supply.
2009-07-03 15:16:27
shame that, what with you having all the kit and that...

I'll just have to go grubbing for some clams instead.

6 more wannabe single malt aficionados required to nominate their candidates.

I have little idea about whisky in general let alone about where in Scotland it has been distilled.

Is Famous Grouse single malt - i used to like those adverts - if not can i go for Glenmorangie?

Make up the age if it needs one? :o|

It is a characteristically strange choice for you Dylanos but I will accept it even though the distillation process at Bushmills is somewhat different to what eventually constitutes a Scottish single malt.
:)

Famous Grouse is not a single malt so Glenmorangie shall be your entrant in this contest. :)

A list of my favs.

Dalwhinnie (favourite)
Glen Garioch (local)
Aberfeldy
Blair Athol
Loch Lomond

Not sure whether to enter my favourite, my local or the patriotic Loch Lomond.

I guess it has to be my favourite: Dalwhinnie

Dalwhinnie... :o ? I will refrain from making comments on your single malt choice at this point, though I will say that it is the most awful distillery visit possible in Scotland and perhaps in the entire world of alcohol establishments.
The entire place is tiled with small white bathroom tiles on the floor and walls, there's a yellow line marked on the floor which visitors are ordered to stick to, and the guides are three enormous (6'5 & 300lb) ex-soviet female wrestling instructors, so scary, they are used to arrest the barley germinating instead of heat.

lol - I went on that one ages ago and it wasn't that bad - obviously they heard you were coming and hired the gladiators to "look after" you!

The problem with the Dalwhinnie tour is that since the distillery is situated on top the A9, also boasting being the highest distillery in Scotland, a spitting distance from Glasgow and Edinburgh, it is possibly the most visited distillery in Scotland. Bus loads of American tourists looking for their 'roots' in Scotland are appalled at what they encounter in Dalwhinnie, thus justifying their ancestors choice to make the big crossing. Anything that causes the Yanks to justify their history should be banned!

I know naff all about whiskey, but thought this might be of interest, as it's from a distillery based in norfolk, which as we all know is the true home of whiskey. obviously...
