Subject: Karma and a plague of lady-birds

We went to Cromer on Tuesday to find that the whole town has been besieged by a plague of lady-birds. I think they are trying to take over the flowerbeds there to use as a a base for their key objective, which seems to be to take over the world ! Luckily, the wind was quite high, and the ladybirds were quite disorganised, landing on people and getting flicked or stood upon.

The whole thing put me in mind of this.

Now, my question is, walking through Cromer I must have been responsible for the deaths or maimings of, um, carry the 2, say about 1,500 ladybirds. Will this effect my karma ? Do Buddhists or whoever follows Karmic doctrine avoid plagues of insects, like, well, the plague ? Am I destined to return as a pre-squashed or pre-flicked ladybird ?

dylanos is the resident expert here i feel. A vague story about a ladybird; I was in scotland a few weeks ago for oxford's pre-season "tour" (yeah, i know) and on the way back a ladybird, whom we named frank, decided to come all the way home with us in the car. I can't remember what happened to him now, i don't recall stopping off in Cromer...

My boss reported the same situation in Great Yarmouth at the weekend.

Yeah, that's what they get for eating all the green-fly, greedy bastards.

Sadly I didn't have a decent camera with me, but there were thousands of ladybird corpses on the pavements, they made a crunchy sound when you walked on them, it was pretty gross.

An onlooker revealed: "It was quite horrific. I have never seen anything like this in my entire life. Ladybirds filled the air and covered cars and pavements like carpets. There were hundreds upon thousands of them. It ruined our visit.

"My elderly grandmother was reluctant to get out of the car as there was absolutely no escape from them."

When was the last time you saw a carpet cover a car ?

It's the same over in Sheringham. Was there about a week and a half ago and constantly flicking them away!
