In fact, having had a look at your team, I'd want Johnson, Terry or Cech for Defoe, which you probably wouldn't go for.

Id defo take Defoe.

Forgot about my team for the 2nd time last weekend, not even checked how badly it went yet...

I'm not sure how it works myself to be honest, I just swapped out some players in my squad for those out of contract - Evra was one of those, and I've got loads of forwards, but thanks for the offer :)
