Subject: Adebayor
Right, because what Adebayor did, was hide a brick in his socks, scored, ran up to them, and then threw the brick at them, I think there's a slight difference between them being the other side of the street, and them being at a football match, don't you?
What Adebayor did was get someone completely innocent into hospital via a totally predictable response to his actions - he's lucky if he hasn't managed to commit an offence carrying jail time and should be banned for some time
there's a thing called inciting racial hatres and preaching terror without actually doing the terror, doesn't mean it's right.
E_cartman if you honestly think that his actions were acceptable you are deluded. If you have a problem with Arsenal fans then release a press statement don't run the length of the pitch and incite a group of fans were young kids could be there with family. Football is a sport of passion but as a professional footballer he has certain boundaries that shouldn't be crossed whereas a group of fans who were probably beered up are quite the opposite. I'm sure he felt a big man behind stewards taunting the fans but in my opinion them same fans paid his wages for the 3 years he was at arsenal and became the player he is! As for the stamp that's not even legal in UFC so the ban should atleast be arond the 5 match mark. As people in a position were they can actually be positive role models for kids people like Adebayor couldn't be further from the example they should be setting.
I'm sorry, but if you can't control yourself because an iddy biddy footballer wants to celebrate in front of his former clubs fans, who have abused him not only through the course of the match, but possibly for more than 12 months while he was actually at the club, then you need to take a look at yourself, football fans get away with way too much because "they pay their money and can do what they want", again the whole thing is being blamed on the player, I haven't seen a single thing saying the fans throwing objects should be banned for life, as is usual for that offence.
You bring up a good point about football being about passion, does that passion not reside in both players and fans?
@Vancian, hopefully that person can make a quick and speedy recovery, but IMO what Adebayor did didn't warrant the bombarding towards the front on the stand, and in particular the throwing of objects, if you're willing to dish it out, you have to be willing to take it aswell, a good portion of the Arsenal fans clearly weren't.
@Astonp, Are you saying that you don't actually have to do the crime to be responsible for it, if so, I agree the Arsenal fans didn't need to abuse Adebayor, they more than likely knew that if Adebayor did score, he would react in the way he did.

i have to say i think cartman is 3 for 3 on that post.
i used to play loads of mario kart against 72monsta (we even kept our 64s just for the purpose) and it was always jeering insults and taunting celebrations... hardly would have justified us jumping up and throwing glasses or punches or even humorously shaped fruit. obviously it happened sometimes - especially the fruit - but it wasn't ok.

Good point well made, and if anyone has experience of being on the wrong end of taunting celebrations it is you mate ;-)

Obviously any Arsenal fan who threw things should banned for ever - prosecuted too perhaps.
But I still say the reaction of the fans was the totally predictable response to Adebayor's blatantly premeditated stupidity. It's a bit utopian to expect a 1000 fans to sit in genteel aloofness - that's not how large groups of humans work - and if they did we would have complaints about 'prawn sandwich eaters'.

But we do have complaints about prawn sandwich eaters. But that complaint was made by Roy Keane. And what does he know, he manages Ips- er, THEM.
Agreed. I couldn't think of a better word to describe growing a beard and then having a paddy.

he's still wrong though, what he did was pathetic and wrong, adebayor himself has even said this in so many words
i have no respect for them anyway, some of them earn more in one day then a lot of us do in a year.
3 match ban for violent conduct. And the improper conduct still to come..
