Subject: Best Tea
It's been a while since anyone accused me of trying to be more British than the Queen :P but I just had a cup of tea and it failed to stand up to what it said on the box.
It is a Taylors of Harrogate - Yorkshire Tea and proclaims itself to be "The best cup of tea in Britain". It turned out to be too red, too thin and too strong on the tannin/dry side of taste - a 3/10 at best.
What would you say is truly the best tea bag and I'm only talking about regular ordinary tea, not like Camomile, rose-hips or other fancy-poncy teas that Dylanos drinks.
Which is it then?

err... NO! well, obviously not that one I'm drinking.
I only drink fancy teas, but a quick poll of the office tells me that Yorkshire tea is the best. Allegedly.
Although nobody knows anything about Taylors of Harrogate, so they might be lying.
Or from Yorkshire.

That the tea box itself...
...and it's not very good.
Maybe another Yorkshire tea...?
(edited)... or not. That the most famous Yorkshire Tea web wise...

That is proper yorkshire tea, however it will more than likely taste foul if you're in a hard water area. They do a different blend specifically for hard water areas.
I tend to buy teas that come foil wrapped for freshness, but I'm a mug for marketing gimmicks like that.

Yes, I've seen a picture of that Yorkshire Tea brand for Hard Water and maybe this is why it not that good here. But the colour is still all wrong. It should be more dark/black, not that reddish mud colour.
Quick question, do you get limescale in your kettle ? If you do, you need the hard water brand.
Yes, the water is hard alright, I know that. We use all sorts of filters regardless of tea to get some of the limescale out. But do you think that it would affect the colour of the brew as well?
Probably not I'd guess - some teas deliberately go for that red-ish colour. A different blend would involve different leaves in different quantities.

The tea I'm looking for is the blackest black tea you can find and one that'll make the brew so thick, the spoon will stand upright in it. I think that overall, that Yorkshire tea is a tiny bit too posh for my taste, or at least it seems like a working class tea that dresses up like an upper class tea.
Look at this... strong tea... :o
