Its so funny, I had a nightmare getting home yesterday, not funny at all as it really wound me up. Some woman in a BRAND NEW Land Rover stopped on a hill as she was scared to move....what the hell!
I had to wait ages for cars coming the other way to go before I and by this time numerous other cars on our side could go around.
The funniest thing I ever saw was when I worked in London though. Being brough up in the sticks I am used to driving in snow etc......one day it snowed when I was working in Bromley. My work sent us home, and I was so scared....not because of me but people coming the other way on the road going sideways and just everywhere apart from straight......it was amazing! :/
I find it so sad that this country cannot cope with a few inches of snow, if we got the snow that Canada or some parts of America get we would not work for 4 months of the year.....plus we would all starve. We certainly would have to keep our own cows!

LMAO
In all seriousness tho - if we did have the weather canada/germany etc had though we would be better prepared. For instance - in Germany you MUST have snow tyres on your car between month blah and blah (im not exactly sure when). IF you dont have snow tyres your in jail.
Sweden/Finland etc have much better organisation, but then again there weather is much more severe.
LMAO

All true.
Personally I love it! Riding a motorbike on snow and ice is fantastic fun, and to answer your question rtg, no, people are not taught how to use engine braking, or reverse steering for that matter.
One thing that is really getting on my tits is the amount of people round my way that are melting the snow on their drives with a kettle or two of water and there is now black ice everywhere!
dylanos - expand please.

the majority of the East Coast got crushed by snow over the weekend.
like talking 10-25 inches of snow in some places...

we saw. It was quite depressing to see the chaos and fuss a couple of inches caused here when in D.C. they had 2 feet overnight and lots of dead folk.

I hope you have found your ass by now. 3 inches of snow? That´s much where you live?:)

not where i live mate but in England (especiaally South of the Watford gap) 3 mm of snow makes the area grind to a halt
Someone i work with and who lives in wycombe didn't get home on monday evening, and she was one of those who spent the night in john lewis! Snow and ice is not my biggest fan though, in february i totalled in to a parked car 50 yards from my house because of the stuff!
on the news over here last night, they were showing some tv footage of a snowball fight in washington state (that's west coast, near canada i think ?), some blokes' hummer got hit by a snowball, and he got out and started waving a gun around. at which point people started chanting "you don't bring a gun to a snowball fight", and then the cops turn up, only to find out that the bloke waving a gun around was a cop ! bad day at the office or what ?
big time lol. It was nice to hear he now has a nice hot shiny desk for a while LMAO what a tube!
You're getting the snow pandemonium each year, don't you?
One guy at our school fell over, and the teachers decided the snow was too dangerous - had to stay indoors all day.
after a night out last night (one full of seedy bars and too much alcohol) i had a joyous walk home, slipping and sliding on the snow, until i threw up over a snowman :(

Getting back home is a neverending adventure, especially during winter. It once took me over 5 hours to get back home, while it usually took me about 30 min at most. Though I remember ~30min total of that homegoing, alcohol is a blessing sometimes.
pah. I have had several times it has taken me days to get home. Admittedly not much to do with snow though...
