Subject: Basingstoke in SNOW

2009-12-24 07:56:44
pah. I have had several times it has taken me days to get home. Admittedly not much to do with snow though...

One guy at our school fell over, and the teachers decided the snow was too dangerous - had to stay indoors all day.

yip my children are not allowed out in school when it is snowing. Its a total freakin joke - they slate parents for wrapping their kids up in cotton wool then the authorities do the same.

I mean - "Oh look children its snowing outside - ok stay inside now and get FAT instead of getting your ass out on that playground and enjoy yourselves working off some energy and having a great time".

And they wonder why children are getting less fitter and more fatter nowadays. Bloody idiots!

here's how my friday went
wake up at 7, get the bus at half 7, get to school about half 8, go to town about 9 - bank, bookies, shop - return to school about half 10, quarter to 11 we're told schools closing at 1, 10 to 11 we go to the pub, 12 oclock i go to the bus station but apparently the buses arent running anymore, ring someone who's on a bus at school for some reason, walk half a mile to get that bus then that bus goes to where i was in the first place and waits 2 hours! Yes 2 hours, before going and finally getting home at about half 2.

So 7 hours in the freezing cold for a trip to the bookies and a pint. Suppose it was good fun though.

There is a good reason for that though....the idiotic shambolic ridiculous Suing Culture thats crept into our country. My child banged their head because he slipped on your playground....a freaking joke.
2009-12-24 12:33:27
Hmmm you are at school and drinking pints tut tut.

make the parents sign a disclaimer or something.

Simple - "Should your child be allowed out to play when it is snowing?" Please sign if you agree.

It´s actually hilarious to read this thread and to find out which precautions are being taken to prevent anything happening with children:)

Sorry I´m laughing..lol

I agree I used to love snow as a kid. I still do as an adult in fact!

Children should be allowed to play like we did as kids.
2009-12-24 12:35:56
last year of 6th form, so its all legal dont worry ;)
2009-12-24 12:46:57
Not really snow anymore. Outside mine it is quite literally an ice rink.
2009-12-24 12:50:28
Its lethal here actually. The ice is now worse than an Ice Rink as it is wet. I have nearly fallen over a few times and the rubbsh truck got stuck in our road because of it too.
2009-12-24 12:59:05
I was about to ride my bike into town... decided against it now!
2009-12-24 12:59:36
We're having a sleet already....

and a massive income of...gulls?!
2009-12-24 13:17:20
were still deep in about a foot of snow which is nice and icey and useless for snowballs and snowmen.
2009-12-24 19:33:28
Talking of slipping in the stuff. I'd managed to stay on my feet all night after getting sozzled. Got out of the taxi outside my house and slipped on my own path. Hands were tied with a kebab and my back took the full force. Laughed it off, went to bed and have been in agony all day today complete with hangover!
2009-12-25 00:25:06
please tell me you ended up wearing the kebab :-D

p.s i've got some pretty good meds for back problems drop by and i'll hook you up
