Subject: Snow

;) i meant the big ice at the north pole sea

you do realise if the North Pole completely melted the nett effect of searise would be almost zero?

It is mostly floating ice you see and therefore in a state of equilibrium.

It is the south pole and iceland that would cause a problem. If Antarctica melted it woukld cause a 60 metre rise in sea level (give or take) but since I was there on what was a hot summers day and it didn't get over -15, I think we are safe for a bit yet. ;-)

+ most of it is already under the sea level
+ ice 'takes more place' than water

exactly. I was pointing out that the North Pole isn't actually a land mass, unless you accept the russian dumbasses that put a flag in the soil a squillion miles down...

9% is above the water. But the point is that it is already in the sea.

Weve had a foot of snow today and a great snowball fight
2010-01-13 17:45:06
lmao were thawing - woopeeee. Not a jot of snow since jan 2nd. This is despite the rubbish the weather forcasters are saying. I now know that on BBC (better known as BBC England) if it is glorious sunshine in scotland they say its going to rain. Were in a thaw with todays temp being 7 deg - yet the weather report says snow and -2.

ITS ALL TO KEEP you guys happy - imagine the ruckas and mass exodus if you really knew it only rained in Scotland 98% of the time instead of 99% :D
