we were right though, he didnt want to leave and we got a lot of money for him.

cashley wanted him gone and wanted the money. He could have made himself a god by refusing to go, but a 50k a week wage rise, cant really blame the lad if the club made it clear he wasnt wanted and that was the other option

From what I've read he wanted a wage raise, even though he had a new contract singed few weeks ago...

well why not. When you've had the likes of manu, chelsea, spurs and liverpool wanting you all willing to pay you over twice as much as you're on, you're going to think you're being underpaid. Asking for the rise shows that he would have preferred to stay at the toon

What with Hughton and this, I am absolutely amazed that Ashley hasn't been ripped to shreds by the best fans in the world, to be honest.

we've come to expect it i think. Realised he doesnt care how hated he is and we'll not turn our backs on the team.

Come on £35m was a huge huge price, you have seriously robbed Liverpool imo. In the summer you can buy better players for less imo.
2011-02-03 19:55:24
Unless Newcastle gets relegated. Then Newcastle will lose about 35M just for not playing in the Premiership.

With Ameobi's injury, all is left in the strikers formation are Best and Ranger, who scored 5 goals in 58 matches. And Lovenkrands who doesn't fit the tactic scheme and doesn't really play a lot.

There is Nolan of course, but his goals were often result of co-operation with Carroll, hence no Carroll = less goals from Nolan.

Sounds like a tough run to avoid relegation.

they probably need 10 points to survive from 14 games, and have been managing without carroll. they'll be fine - or at least better off than west ham.
2011-02-03 22:48:55
like the other guy said though, if we go down then we've lost out on 25mil. Yeah it was a massive rip off for liverpool, but for us?

Then we tried to throw it all at nzogbia -.-

best and ranger to score our goals now, or maybe alan smith can become prolific again...
2011-02-03 22:49:38
wow! that is clutching at straws!
2011-02-03 22:51:42
i think your best bet is mr Lovenkrands, best and ranger and championship players at best..

8 premier league goals between the lot of them with 3 of those being a best HT the other week.

We got rid of xisco as well on the last day, after that we're down to the younger young uns with sammy ameobi and the like. Apparently we're chasing Aliadiere and seeing who else is out of contract, so sheringham and hasselbaink might make an appearance :\

Well Best scored a hattrick against us, but we were plain awful that night and thats why he should have lost his job old Avram.

Newcastle are less likely to go down that we are so stop pannicking. ;)

I know Wolves are playing United later, and the scoreline could be similar, but err, oops.

3-0 down at home after 15 minutes!
