Subject: wahey the lads!

It was a fine tackle, hard but fair
2011-02-06 15:16:52
yeah, 5 or 10 years ago he would have got away with it, i blame footballs transition into a basketball-esque sport.

you think that Barton is a pencil?
2011-02-06 18:28:45
I must have been the only one that saw diabys' trailing leg buckle then ?
2011-02-06 18:52:50
he got the ball though, didnt go for the player in anyway, didnt hurt the player in any way, tryed to stop himself clattering him after getting the ball. Dont know what else barton could have done

Fair doos, I guess we saw it differently. The refs / linos were worse than useless though, and their being useless affected Arsenals composure.

van Persie was offside, but I fail to see in what possible way Leon Best was offside.

It's more amazing how Nolan gets by doing nearly the same thing to Szczesny. I don't care who you are, that's a yellow. A whole 5-10 seconds that Szczesny holds onto the ball when it was OUR kickoff would not impact the match.

I'm not trying to take away any credit to Newcastle as they played very well yesterday while Arsenal simply did not. However, trying to pin all the faults on Arsenal is wrong. Especially when there were a fair number of incidents that Newcastle players(namely Joey Barton) who got off scot free for fouls they committed as well..

yeah, seeing that nolan on the keeper thing was a bit off tbh. Thought he should have been booked for that. Other than that though, dont think you can have any major complaints.
2011-02-06 21:08:23
Nolan did get a yellow for it...
2011-02-06 21:15:03
did he? I thought the motd guys said scezny got the booking for time wasting. In that case arsenal fans have nothing to complain about
2011-02-06 21:25:14
They both got a yellow :)
2011-02-06 21:32:50
actually van persie was not offside when the ball was passed to him. he was in an offside position when the ball reached him - and that was the point at which the ref raised his flag.

To be honest, I hadn't realised Nolan had got a yellow card at that point. I'm not an Arsenal fan, just saw a match that would have been an Arsenal win had the ref done his job. Their heads went down when they realised they were getting nothing from the ref after the nolan incident.

I too did not realize he did get a yellow for it. Even so, my point still stands for Barton though. He was flinging himself into tackles and while he may have been winning the ball, he was still playing dangerously...

The Barton v Diaby tackle, Barton completely left the ground btw... So if you consider that a legitimate tackle for jumping into someone. Diaby had every right to react the way he did for that kind of tackle. Granted he should obviously been professional about it and not reacted like he did but such is football. =)

Also, Barton recklessly dove in against Arshavin in the first half too again to no foul..

Either way facts are that Newcastle played for 90 minutes while Arsenal decided to stop playing around the 60 minute mark.

I saw a video that stopped exactly at the moment of pass and there was an offside
