I'm more concerned about Clegg's influence over Torries foreign policy... Clegg's a complete arse in this aspect.

Clegg has to be careful, if he has a formal coalition it will ruin his party next time round. he needs to do a deal that allows a few of their policies through (liking the school stuff, 10p tax, job tax stop etc.) and yet allows them to vote against the more cocked Tory ideas.

what is the main problem is that I am not sure with three centralist parties why we have to have the just right of centre one, when the country is basically just left of centre mainly.

very, very, very pleased about the BNP results though ;-)

I assume you mean that the BNP fell flat on their arse :)...

With Clegg, I'd imagine that they will agree to back anything that matches their manifesto positions, aswell as taking up a couple of minor cabinet posts. They should really push for PR though, if only because we're the only ones in the west that don't have it. Apart from America.

I'm amazed at the anger of those who couldnt vote - they wouldnt have changed the general election results, which is a problem, all votes should contribute to the result, and that is where their anger should be placed.

or possibly getting to the polling station earlier!

people arent surprised when a shop shuts, so why a polling station? also what sort of twunt royale would turn up without their polling card?!

students, its all their fault ! Or so said the returning officer, a Mr Paul Calfe.*

* Obscure Coogan reference...

he is right!

even when I was one that was still true.
2010-05-08 13:55:45
to be fair there were lots of people who turned up over 1.5 hours before the closing time and still couldn't get in.
2010-05-08 14:03:00
3 hours in sheffield apparently
2010-05-08 22:41:20
So Mr Clegg....Deal or no deal?
2010-05-08 23:01:12
hopefully no deal and they get a coalition with labour and Brown goes. Tory majority dropped by about 4000 here and the libs moved into second, every seat in the counties now tory :\

Just hope something gets sorted and that there is faith in it so that the economy doesn't get shafted too much purely from confidence dropping in the markets
2010-05-09 09:26:22
what good are the markets when you have to prop them up with taxpayers money... so much for the "free" market.
2010-05-09 09:36:23
"Free market" meaning the government is allowed to take your money to the market and spent it there ;-)
2010-05-09 10:29:58
think thats going to happen anyway with all those european countries going bust and us propping them up :\
2010-05-09 10:42:26
Do not over-exaggerate the extent of British financial "propping up" other European countries. The Germans have taken the brunt of it and British contribution has been equal per capita to that of several other far smaller and poorer countries. But this is a debate about the necessity or extent of cooperation needed to maintain a European Union (unholy as it is) and not about British elections.

However,... now with a looming Con-LD coalition government, what do you think the implications will be on British forces in Afghanistan? British involvement in the sanctions against Iran? British stance on immigration policy or Muslim defiance of Freedom of rights within the UK?
