Subject: British elections

they could do long term easier - they had 10x as much to start with

if we had followed their example (instead of Thatcher blowing most of it in tax giveaways) then it would have made a difference to us.

But it is ridiculous to made a serious case that our different approaches to oil management made a serious difference - THEY HAD 10 TIMES AS MUCH PER HEAD!!

That's like if we had the oil of Iran

This is fantastic, Yahoo news did a survey about politics and posed some questions to the public, like:
Why do the Conservatives want to build a moat around Parliament?

I love it! Would be fun to make something like this in Poland :)

It reminds me a bit of this:

i saw a nice article in the very equal and non biased sun today. Apparently Nick Clegg is really grumpy and we shouldnt vote for him because he had a privileged upbringing an instead vote for Cameron...

Now, here's a question on the election issue... it's obvious that the Torries have the most sensible agenda or say, guidelines, however they also have the most ludicrous man leading them.
Is there anyone in that party who is a more worthwhile leader?
2010-04-23 10:25:45
No, didn't check though.

Agenda aside (the £3 a week tax break for married couples is downright stupid in the modern age) - Look at the population of potential candidates for Tory leader. you pretty much have to come from Eton. Which means, Thatcher aside, you're always going to end up with blokes who make Michael Foot look like Rambo - chin-less wonders to a man.

"So Henrietta, why did you and Wilberforce decide to get married?"

"Well we were going to live in sin and debauchery but as Willy-bumpkin said, £156 will pay for a nice little breakfast, so marriage just makes more sense!"

It is a sad thing but perhaps common to all high standard of living countries.

Right wing policies become an elitist, fat cat, old guard property, which is unfortunately a result of human inability to stick with hard driven attitudes which brought prosperity in the first place. Becoming complacent and gooey on all sorts of issues, comes hand in hand with left wing policies and masked under 'progressive' guises, while at the same time obliterating all momentum achieved by the original right wing harsher yet competitive drive.

It happens everywhere, yet the "chin-less wonders" are perhaps unique to the UK. :)
