Even without my Claret and Blue glasses on Parker should definately be in the squad. Hes a fantastic player and would play easily for any top side on current form. I rate him so highly I think he should make the squad before any other West Ham player inc. Green, Upson, Cole.

I agree that Cole has not had a great scoring record, but consider 12 so far in the season within a struggling side. He has caused some great defenders a lot of problems this season.

i think danny murphy could be a possibilit too, such a great season with fulham :)

Parker is a great player, he got so wasted at West Ham...I still cannot understand why the hell he was sold by Newcastle. Still, I don't think he is better than Lampard, Gerrard, Barry or Carrick...having said that, haven't seen him playing in a while so I'm not really the one who should make the decision ;)

In a perfect world, Owen Hargreaves. Such a waste :\
2010-04-09 22:08:19
Hes a different type of player to most of those. Wasted at West Ham! Hush your mouth....well you are probably right. lol

I reckon he left Newcastle for the same reason as West Ham will lose him....we are both rubbish.
2010-04-09 22:13:21
Well yeah, that's a perfect reason to leave a team! ;)
Though imagine Chelsea with Lampard - Parker duo backed by Essien, with Robben-Drogba-Cole up front...massacre, even genocide I'd say! ;)

@Lost
yup, Hargo is one of the best in what he's doing, such a shame he got injured so bad...
2010-04-09 22:16:24
Injuries happen all the time, so many players have come back and never been the same again.
2010-04-09 22:17:15
Robben did score a tasty goal the other night I have to say. I think Chelsea will try and buy Villa myself.
2010-04-09 22:18:59
Do you think Beckham would have played?(In WC)
2010-04-09 22:20:37
He is in tremendous form, just check this goal from previous round, against Fiorentina:

And yes, this goal gave Bayern to qualification to next round, as well as the one scored against Manchester.

Anyway, I wonder if Robben would've been better than Messi and Ronaldo for he had not been so injury prone...
2010-04-09 22:24:39
No and No. Hes lacks the power of the other two so will never be as good. He has a wonderful left foot and is a great player but not in the same bracket. However I do not feel Messi is the same bracket as Ronaldo as I see Messi as a far better all round player.

Messi for me if he improves will quickly become the best player I have ever seen, so far Maradonna and Zidane have been the best I have seen. Messi is starting to look better though. Ronaldo is too much of a prima dona to ever be as good.
2010-04-09 22:34:03
To be honest I don't think that he would've been much worse, if any. He is as fast as they are, has equal dribbling skills, has amazing long shot, has some tactical knowledge and football wittiness. His main problem is selfishness, at times.

As for the best ever...I've never seen Maradone in action, except for the youtube videos and well...you can make a Polish player look like a God in them so I won't judge solely on their basis :)

The best I've seen were definitely Zidane and Ronaldo. But there were also others, like Maldini&Cannavaro, who were unpassable at their prime. At last World Cup Cannavaro played like no other defender I've ever seen, fast, intelligent, firm but not brutal, always where he was supposed to be.

And Alan Shearer of course! ;)
2010-04-09 22:42:26
Maradonna was a genius, he spoilt it with Drugs and alchohol but you cannot stop a genius being so. He was the single spearhead for Argentina winning a World Cup.

Some players are great and it is clear to see Youtube does have a way of making players look awesome, but take it from me Maradonna was that good.

Shearer was a great striker but please do not mention him in the same breath as Zidanne and Maradonna.......and thats from an English man. ;)

One player whom I did think might be Englands answer to Maradonna was Joe Cole, the first time I saw him was the FA Youth Cup Final in the same West Ham Youth Side as Michael Carrick......Cole was on a different plant though. He has not reached the potential I felt he had.
2010-04-09 22:53:47
Ahh yes, you've reminded me of one thing! People tend to say that Messi is amazing etc. but he has such a bad luck that he has weak teammates in his national team, and because of them he won't win the World Cup. Come on! First of all, I don't think that players like Samuel, Cambiasso, Mascherano, Lucho Gonzalez, Aguero, Diego Milito, Higuain, Tevez etc. are weak. And who was Maradona playing with? I remember only Passarella and Valdano. And still, Maradona did win the trophy with his team.

Well, I have to believe you about his skills, such a shame I wasn't born then yet. But maybe I will find the full games on the internet? I guess it's worth a try when I will have some free time...

Of course, Shearer wasn't a genious...but still...;)

As for Joe Cole I also thought that he will make wonders after reaching 25-26, but he didn't really develop that much...well it happens, Owen had his prime at the age of 20-22 :) I always considered Dyer as true talent, but in his case it was a real drama...at least Milner did develop into quality player, he was astonishingly bright in the greyness that was surrounding him at Newcastle right before he left off...N'Zogbia on the other hand totally dissappointed me, I imagined that he will be a real something.

wrong - good manager, but you can't polish a turd.

Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha......I have a mate who supports Burnley and you really don't want to hear what he said about that.

Sir Alex is a great manager , and has an excellent eye for spotting out good buys.. What a bargain he got recently when he signed Owen!
