Subject: Capello's 30 man squad
I also thought that Bale will make it, he had some kick-ass performances in the latter part of the season.
I'm sure he could have made it ...had he been English. He's Welsh!

Terrible selection and if England goes beyond the quarter finals it'll be a shocker.
Have you seen who is going to play for teams such as Italy or Brasil? Italy is weak in general lately, but Brasil is really ridiculous in midfield and striker selection! No Diego, Ronaldinho, Pato, Elano Ramirez Nilmar etc. instead. Really interesting.
Italy:
bramkarze: Gianluigi Buffon (Juventus), Morgan de Sanctis (Napoli), Federico Marchetti (Cagliari), Salvatore Sirigu (Palermo);
obrońcy: Salvatore Bocchetti (Genoa), Leonardo Bonucci (Bari), Fabio Cannavaro (Juventus), Mattia Cassani (Palermo), Giorgio Chiellini (Juventus), Domenico Criscito (Genoa), Fabio Grosso (Juventus), Christian Maggio (Napoli), Gianluca Zambrotta (AC Milan);
pomocnicy: Mauro Camoranesi (Juventus), Antonio Candreva (Juventus), Andrea Cossu (Cagliari), Daniele de Rossi (AS Roma), Gennaro Gattuso (AC Milan), Claudio Marchisio (Juventus), Riccardo Montolivo (Fiorentina), Angelo Palombo (Sampdoria), Simone Pepe (Udinese), Andrea Pirlo (AC Milan);
napastnicy: Marco Borriello (AC Milan), Antonio di Natale (Udinese), Alberto Gilardino (Fiorentina), Vincenzo Iaquinta (Juventus), Giampaolo Pazzini (Sampdoria), Fabio Quagliarella (Napoli), Giuseppe Rossi (Villarreal).
Brasil:
Portieri: Júlio César (Inter), Gomes (Tottenham), Doni (Roma).
Difensori: Maicon (Inter), Daniel Alves (Barcellona), Lúcio (Inter), Juan (Roma), Luisão (Benfica), Thiago Silva (Milan), Michel Bastos (Lione), Gilberto (Cruzeiro).
Centrocampisti: Gilberto Silva (Panathinaikos), Felipe Melo (Juventus), Josué (Wolfsburg), Kléberson (Flamengo), Elano (Galatasaray), Ramires (Benfica), Kaká (Real Madrid), Júlio Baptista (Roma).

Yeah, I was already corrected on PL forum about that fact :)
Monkey boy is so Welsh, you could tell that just by the shape of his ears ;-)
This team wouldn't win the Premiership and it certainly won't win the world cup. As soon as I saw Capello say he tried to get Scholes out of retirement you have to question the quality and depth of the squad.
Having said that, I am pleased to see some interesting decisions. Johnson, Dawson and Huddlestone are all fairly solid and I hope they actually play a part in the finals as they are part of England future.
Hart has had a good season but we still don't have a goalie going, Warnock and Baines are good additions and since we dont have any fit defenders even Carragher isnt a bad move as he is at least flexible in playing different positions.
But there are problems to his choices in that Cole and King only have one leg each at the moment and we still have to rely entirely on Rooney scoring.
Hopefully Capello will be brave in his final 23 selection and play the team in form rather than our normal sub-par and crocked "stalwarts".
Looking forward to watching my, ahem, 11th world cup though! ;-)

Pleased to see Darren Bent in there... gutted that Ashley Young was left out. Hopefully this will be changed before the deadline... Doesn't look likely though
I'd just change Heskey for A. Young... We have enough strikers

But Heskey is probably the best ever striker at holding up the ball since Shearer hanged up his boots. Sadly he can't score/jump/tackle/head a ball...
i'd play crouch and rooney and have young whipping the balls in from the wing all day long and have gerrard and lampard hanging on the edge of the box striking the headed clearances.
But no Young and no doubt Heskey will be playing -.- yes he can bring the best out of others, but he cant score and that adds more pressure to the other players. He cant even start at Villa under MoN.
King shouldnt be in the 23 because he will only be able to play baout 3 games and i dont think he's too great anyway :\

Just looking at the probable Brazil selection...
For those who don't know of him, just wait until you see Neymar in action! His value will skyrocket after the world cup!

Neymar is ok, but he ain't selected for Brasil. Nilmar is different player...
brazil don't look brilliant on there compared to how they normally do. no pato, and no ronaldinho which i think is a surprise. i know ronaldinho isn't as good as he was, but he'd be one hell of an impact player if things weren't going their way. italy don't look great either tbh.
king's very good, capello seems to think so to due to the lengths he's gone to have him, bringing his fitness trainer from tottenham :p it's central midfield that worries me, if barry isn't fit, then who will do the defensive duties??

Well that's Dunga's idea, Diego and Ronaldinho were left out of the squad for quite a some time. But I wasn't expecting Pato to be left out. Still, it's a completely different Brazil from the one we used to know - they play defensive football. All in all, it looks like the only offensively oriented teams from the top will be Nederland and Spain.
As for Italy, I think that it will be a nightmare for fans of calcio. Lippi has lost 'it', he still believes in guys who won the WC for him, but let's face it - Cannavaro is way weaker, Zambrotta is tragic, Pirlo has one great game followed by two less than average ones...to be honest I see only a couple of top level players - Buffon, Chiellini, De Rossi, Di Natale. That's all. The team would've been much better with Cassano and Miccoli, but Lippi doesn't like them for some reason. Still I hope the best for Italy and England, as these are my favorite NTs :) And I hope that Germany won't win it ;)

Scotty Parker if he takes him, he can be an absolute rock, flies into everyting, body on the line and all that.
