Wow Rooney has the gaul to slate the fans for booing on the TV....I expect the fact they spent thousands going to support them gives them no right to expect a bit more effort and craft from 100k+ per week players?
2010-06-19 00:38:57
i know he is a cheaky scumbag. he especially deserves to be booed he was bloody dreadfull.
2010-06-19 00:39:27
Agreed..........

Funny isn't it? Rooney seems to have lost the scant grasp on reality that he might have once had.

Does he not understand that the fan/team relationship is reciprocal?

Come on Wayne, chuck the dogs a bone!

All I ask is he play like a forward, because at the moment hes playing in midfield and when he does venture forward he just loses the ball straight away. I wonder whether he is actually fit?

I never thought I'd ever hear myself say this, but... Hesey was the best player we had against Algeria!
2010-06-19 09:07:17
.......and he was still plain awful. I actually fely Ashley Cole and Glen Johnson were our best players.

I didnt think they marked well enough... their wing players broke through far too easily... Its hard to point out any positives if I'm honest... Very depressing game

I think the problem with England is that they're playing each match like they don't want to lose, not like they want to win it. There's not enough going forward.
The other consistent problem is the square peg round hole left wing position. Is it really such a big deal to play a left footer there or, at a pinch, someone that usually plays on the left (e.g. Adam Johnson, Joe Cole)? Perhaps there's an element of wanting to get certain players in the squad and then shoe-horning them in.
I'm not sure where the media blather of Gerrard playing off Rooney has suddenly sprung from, but I'll readily concede that Gerrard should play through the middle alongside Lampard. If Capello wants to then play with Barry behind them then why not play an asymmetrical formation with one winger and then just leave the other side as it is and ask the fullback on that side to sit back...? The side would be unbalanced, but with the first 11 that he plays it's unbalanced by nature already, so why not accept that and play people in position to get the best out of them.
Anyway... I've been summoned to a work meeting Weds afternoon and will probably catch the last 10mins as I drive back to Nottingham from Oxford late afternoon. I'm not too bothered tbh; at least the roads will be quiet...

2010-06-19 11:24:15

2010-06-19 11:26:55
You got it.
Or, I guess, Andy Murray.

I find it quite sad that I support the other home Nations apart from when they face England. :/
2010-06-19 11:32:14
Surely not in the rugby though...?
2010-06-19 11:33:13
Rugby....no not really apart from when they face France. ;)
