Subject: England won but.........
LOL NO ITALY.
The two finalists from '06 don't even escape the group stage.
Also, I fully expect that USA will lose to Ghana.

Some hge shocks in the WC so far....I mean who would have bet on France AND Italy coming bottom in their groups?
Huge credit to the little teams in the WC so far....like USA. :p

It's starting to become an interesting world cup. I had a fiver on ghana to make it through the group at 11/10. Also for them to top the group and germany second at 9/1 (damn germans). 16/1 for ghana in the semis, am i stretching that too far? We certainly have a great chance against germany. They have hardly set the world on fire. Spain to go out in the group stage too!
Spain had better go through. If them or Uruguay win it I get £50.
Spain are still my tips to win it from the Euro sides.

I thought Italy and France wouldn't get through the groups... watch for England not getting through next time.
The problem is the same, no youngsters coming through apart from a handful so not enough to give choice at International level. Inter Milan had 1, yes ONE Italian this last season... They need to go back to saying you can only have, say, three overseas players at any one time on the field. It might make for lesser quality team overall but so what? Eeveryone will be in the same boat. It is no accident that all the teams with developing leagues and not much overseas influence are doing better...
I also think it is an absolute joke that you get paid to play for your country!

a few points i agree on and a few i disagree.

agreed they used to give it to a charity of their choice - should be the same.

problem with that is it has to be universal as one country doing it will just see their tv revenue fall and hence destroy their chances in the champ league etc.

yes, I meant everyone do it FIFA regulation etc. but Blatter and his cronies don't have the jabulanis to do it though as all the clubs will complain about reduction of quality and FIFA doesn't really give a toss about the World Cup despite all the posturing. It is just a great marketing exercise for them that they get other people to pay for. Judging by Blatter and Clinton cosying up in the recent Landon Donovan show says he is all about the big I am - twunt.
i think maybe the biggest issue is that it would actually be against the european working convention i.e. sorry i cannot employ you as your a foreigner which is showing discrimination
Itlay and France failed to go through as they have played the same players for years and changed nothing in the squad.
What did they expect.
Unless England get a rocket up the rear end, they will get the same fate, as it stands it looks bleak for the future with no real talent coming from anywhere......
R.I.P England........

hart, dawson, wilshere, young, carroll, derbyshire, rodwell, gosling, there's plenty of talent about. Our U17's won the Euro's last month and the U19's lost in the final last year i think.
Yes thats all very true but on the big stage they don't seem to play very well.
This is why we have taken the same faces to this world cup with only a few exceptions.

they're still developing really, Hart was exceptional last season, rodwell and gosling always make an impact when they come on, Carroll's got a chance to prove himself in the big league now (was top scorer for the U21's last season), Agbonlahor and Young can play well just inconsistent, Dawson is good. Give them a couple of seasons and the qualifying games and they wont be a bad team at all.
I just hope when we get through this one that they look at the future and get a manager and team together with the WC in mind...
I mean we couldn't even use the jubblies ball last season due to the FA being so dense they didnt arrange the ball sponsorship deal to end before the WC starts... twunts and leotards of the highest order.
