Subject: Joe Cole?

Well Bent was a bit overpaid as well. Carroll is a prospect, scored a lot...but 35 is way too much. On the other hand they had to buy someone and got 50 for Torres...

its the despiration of only having 1 day to find a replacement because of a spanish nob.

whatever happened to a "loan, with an intention to buy" ?

...apparently Carroll is slightly better than a bored / wanting away Torres...

According to Opta, in the Premier League this season, Carroll has more goals than Torres (11 to nine), more assists (three to two) and the time lapse between goals is less (148 mins per goal compared to 211 mins per goal). The Newcastle striker's shooting accuracy is worse than Torres however, with 43% of his shots hitting the target compared to the Spaniard's 52%.

I saw those stats too they don't factor in Hodgson though and since he has gone Torres has been a totally different proposition. If someone would have told me at the start of January that we would swap Torres for Carroll and Adams I would be checking what they were smoking, don't get me wrong they aren't bad players but last year they were both playing in the championship.

I am gutted to see Torres go but you don't need CSI doing their stuff to see Gerrard and Carragher's fingerprints all over this one and I can't wait for the day when they both leave or hang their boots up.

LOL as a Hammers fan I rarely get the chance to laugh - but Newcastle have done the deal of the century there!

David Villa went to Barca for 800k less!

Carroll is a nice prospect and a handful but no more than 15m imho.

Sorry I've just crawled out of a cave where I was all of yesterday. Have I missed much?

I really don't see what the big problem is with all this. Torres took a pay cut to join Liverpool when he could have gone elsewhere. He put up with broken promises and all the other crap from the previous cancerous owners and even publically spoke out against them while the 'heartbeat' players at the club often stayed quiet. He was shafted by the club last season as the medical staff lied to him and Rafa about his injuries because they were told to by the previous owners and Purslow who wanted Champs league qualification so the club would look better when being sold which ended with him needing an operation and affecting his world cup.

Then he has to put up with Hodgson and his crap tactics and lack of support from said Hodgson as he gets publically called a cheat by Ferguson and his minions that manage other clubs. He gets verbally abused by Carragher and then Gerrard and ostracised to the point of not being included in goal celebrations and hasn't even been spoken to by any team mates for a month.

At the end of all this when there have been rumours for quite a while now that he might want away the club was apparently not expecting him to leave and had to rush through replacement transfers after telling him that he couldn't move until the Suarez deal was completed, then he gets it in the neck for the late transfer request when that's when he was told to do it.

I hear people complaining about footballers only being in it for the money these days instead of trying to win trophies but apparently he is wrong for wanting to win things as he is getting older now. If the new owners are looking to turn to youth and make a slower push for the top instead of splashing the cash like Man City and Chelsea then I don't really blame him for wanting some success before he retires, it's laughable that Gerrard had to be talked out of a move to the same club a couple of seasons ago but nothing is said about that.

In the end we got 50m for him to fund the rebuilding which is the most the club has ever gotten for a player, this wasn't a McManaman that went on a bosnam or an Owen that delayed signing a contract until he only had a year left then asked for a move but apparently Torres is the scum of the earth and not much is said about the others.

I would have liked him to stay, he is class and it would have been great to see him for longer at Liverpool but sometimes these things don't work out, in a different period of time without all the recent goings on I am sure things would have been different.

A very sensible post, not a Liverpool fan myself but if he was being left out by team mates etc then I would have wanted to move - thats for sure. Liverpool have been in decline a while now and I am a little suprisrised Gerrard has not moved to try and win the title. I don't mean that to wind up Liverpool fans at all before I am moaned at.

I am a West Ham fan as most of you know - so I am more than used to heartbreak, disappointment and selling our best players....usually for not enough money.

Overjoyed. However...

MAXI RODRIGUEZ YOU ARE ABSOLUTELY CRAP (CRAPPER THAN BEFORE!)

Meireles = player of the season
Gerrard was really poor today, I think age is finally catching up with him
