lol he's right. everything is in mm here... although my other half designs cities so she works in km... it makes for interesting conversations concerning house renovations.

Considering my studies are geared towards a Structural Engineering/Architecture course at Sheffield Uni, I'd be interested in some fact (and some innuendos can never be amiss :P)

you need to become an urban designer or possibly masterplanner, they can never decide what they are called. most of them do little things like replanning high streets and new housing estates, a few get more prestigious schemes likes towns in the middle east, china or russia and about three get to do proper cities and redesign existing cities.
Over the last 2 years 15 cities in France had open competitions to help with redevelopment and structuring and the worlds elite of architecture plus a hoard of others including Rogers, Foster, Hadid all entered.

My other half won 14 and the other one was cancelled.

I have a friend on that course, I'm sure... Do you know Kevin Clar?

Is your other half French ? Would being French give her an insight into what French people want from their cities ? And why aren't the competition copying her ? :).
